Well I do have a prometia mach-II and my current FX-51 is limited by the no pci/agp lock.
If I do buy a FX-55 and a fast 939 board then I would at least have decent cooling to try to get to 3Ghz with.
I dunno yet, I've just started thinking about it.

I never knew you had one! I get higher on air than you get with your prometeia. you can sell that fx51, s940 mobo and registered ram and this will help pay for the fx55, but its possible winchester may overclock higher and for 1/4 the price too ;)
whoa lotta loud fans eshbach! Once im done benching, my stock amd fan goes back in and ill lower the oc to 2.35x10, maybe 240x10 at stock volts since I cant stand the noise and makes it hard to hear the splatter of fragged bots ;) or the high pitch whine of my discharged lazer gun ;) nice book on black holes, those fascinate me, we should discuss that

Yeah when I ordered my prommie it was for my P4. Then on a whim I decided to order the FX-51. I didn't really research it enough and the board I have isn't very o/c friendly.
I ended up getting 3.6Ghz on my P4 while I was waiting on the other stuff to arrive with the h20/tec so when it all arrived I ended up ordering a mounting kit for socket 940 and putting the prommie on my FX-51.
At the time FX-51s were still pretty new and destroying everything so I just put a 9800xt in it and settling for 2.5Ghz and haven't messed with it since.
I could probably run 2.8Ghz if I upped the multi to 14x, I'm just lazy and always in game so I never mess with it.
I have no reason to since I don't bench.

The only reason I'm Air Cooled right now is because I think anything else is the easy way out... but if I have to, I'll resort to phase change. :)
On that note... anyone know of a Canadian vendor that has prommie setups?

And I agree, computers cost too much when you get into this 'overclocking' hobby, lol. I've spent a good 8-10k on computers in the last 4 or so years... too damn much. Ah well, its fun as hell. :D
