My God do I still love the intro music on this one.
I just finished Black Mirror 1, a point and click horror adventure game. I really liked it, only got stuck a few times. The voice acting was atrocious and really doesn't help you connect to any of the characters or the setting. The ending was garbage as well. There are also a load of other issues. But even so it definitely had it's share of great moments and I didn't find it boring at all. Perfect length as well (apart from the lame last chapter). It ain't perfect, far from it, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Also finished Dungeon Keeper 2. Not much to say about this except it is just as brilliant as it was when it released. Hugely entertaining.
Just finished Perfect Dark "HD" on Xbox360. A+
Loved:
- It's perfect dark. It's the same game that followed Goldeneye in the same engine with all the awesomeness and extra perks. (Including being able to stick mines to other players/NPCs, that never gets old.)
- It's old school FPS. You need to memorize the maps, work your way through, failing continuously until you succeed. Awesome-sauce! :D
Hated:
- The Xbox360 sticks in my opinion are not good for manual aiming. I've logged probably 50 hours into it, and I still can't aim worth a damn in manual aim mode. I've become quite good at simply moving my crosshairs and strafing across people though.
- The last achievement is for people who are better than I am. It's getting every single other achievement, 100% the game, and then find all of the super-secret hidden "leaderboard crowns" to end up at 201% completion of the game. Won't be getting that any time soon.
Summary: If you loved GoldenEye/Perfect Dark on the N64, you will love this. You know how we always complain (or is it just me) that we would totally buy all our old games if only they released them with HD graphics? This is the answer to that complaint. This and Beyond Good & Evil. And hopefully Baldur's Gate.
I just finished Saints Row the Third and really enjoyed it.
It's a total rip off of GTA, yet they do it so well that it doesn't matter. I'd use spoiler tags to not give away the plot, but there is no plot.. Anyway, after one of the mini-games that substitute for missions, you end up with an 8-bit tank that you can drive around Steelport. This sealed the deal for me, I busted up laughing, it even shoot squares like the old Atari 2600 tanks. I made my character a girl and kept her topless for the whole game (hey, it's just the way I am...) So the contrast between the busty babe and the 8-bit tank was a crackup.
Wait a sec, you can make her topless? Why did I not see this option? I have the game and it is a hoot, playing @6048x1200, maxed out. Btw, I want the female character to be topless for purely research purposes.....:p :D
Well, I reached kind of a standstill in Albert Odyssey. Reached a very tough boss, and just don't have the will or time to go back, level up XP and gold, and try again several hours down the line. =\
That said, the game is absolutely charming, with some of the best music and legitimately FUNNY, clever, and quirky dialogue I've ever seen in any JRPG, ever.
Glad I got the game, and glad I played it. Maybe one day I'll get back to it and finish.
But right now, Deus Ex HR is taking up most of my time, and Europa Universalis III (w/expansions) is filling that ever-present strategy craving.
After that, who knows...
Yep, takes about 10 seconds to remove the blur.
