The last game you beat,did you like it and what are you playing next?

Beat Sleeping Dogs. That game was really good, I honestly don't know how that slipped through my radar years ago. Great story, great fighting mechanics. (Hello Watch Dogs, this is geared toward you): THE MAIN CHARACTER ACTUALLY HAD CHARACTER! OMG! Who would have thought that the most important part of the game, the player/main character actually is a character? Not just some dumb mute? Interesting concept isn't it?

Still attempting to play Watch Dogs. I hate myself for buying it. As of now I'm about 15 hours in. It just keeps getting worse. The story sucks and there is nothing cool and new anymore. Just a bunch of blandness. Kind of like how this post is going. That is Watch Dogs. Avoid it like the plague.

Gave up on Ace Combat: Infinity. Fun game while you're playing, but the setup for an online game sucks. You have to wait until all 8 players are in the server and ready to go (no 3 v 4, no joining in once the match is on the way, etc.) so you're often just sitting there waiting a while for an 8th to join, and then everybody has about a minute to select fuel and confirm readiness. Often you'll get down to only 5 seconds on the clock and somebody will drop, making the entire server wait around again. Couple that with only having a supplied fuel cap of 3 (and supplied fuel only regenerates 1 per 4 hours) and it's just a little more frustration than it's worth IMO (though gaining stocked fuel isn't all THAT difficult).

Rapid fire on games I've been playing that I bought recently -

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing - didn't actually buy this recently but just started playing recently. There's a lot to like here. Love that from the very beginning both you and your partner have melee and ranged equipment and you can choose to have either specialize in either with equipment, skills, etc. You start getting mobbed pretty early in the game, too. Bit of a difficulty curve you don't see in these games too often (not that it's TOO bad, you just have to pay attention). Love that the partner uses her own healing potions (so long as you keep her inventory stocked) so you don't need to manage healing two characters.

Nidhogg - Pretty fun single player. I bet it's fantastic in local multiplayer but I haven't yet had the opportunity. Have a little bit of trouble lowering my sword with a gamepad; keep rolling or ducking instead.

Broforce - It's like Metal Slug and Super Crate Box had a child. Tons of fun. Probably the most pure fun I've had out of any of these games.

Risk of Rain - Like most roguelikes it gets better as you start figuring out the strategies to use. I feel like some of the characters I've unlocked are clearly bent towards co-op play while I've mostly been playing single player. Pretty fun regardless.

Also still putting a couple of hours into Tales of Vesperia each week. Don't see too many JRPGs these days that can hold my attention outside of the SMT games but I'm liking this one so far.

Just beat Brothers: A Tale of 2 Sons

All in all I'm mixed. I game world is very well done and I wanted to know more about it and I could easily see a bunch of spin-off games that touch upon the different magical creatures and locations you encounter. The story is pretty good and pretty touching although it all felt very short. In fact, I beat it in 3 hours or so. My biggest criticism would really be the short length of the game and the Deus Ex moments that really killed the narration. Worth playing but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

Just Beat Broken Age: Act 1

Well written game with some nice visuals and interesting plot. It's surprisingly short and the puzzles felt very basic. I'm actually a little disappointed by how easy the first act was and how quickly i got through it. I don;t regret playing it, but I finished the game feeling empty and unfulfilled.

For Act 2 I'd like to see the characters fleshed out a little more, more intricate puzzles, and more content.

I'd recommend picking it up on the cheap since the game is so short and easy. Otherwise, wait till its finished and pick it up as a bundle.

Taken on its own without the hype Watch Dogs is a fun game. I hear a lot of people saying they don't like the driving but I don't agree, I think the driving is great. The story is decent enough and it has a lot to do. I would say buy it at <$30. I don't regret buying it for essentially $38, for $60 though, I dunno about all that.

Are you giving the graphics an 8/10? Because I beat the game recently with my brother and we barely made it to the end. The writing was some of the worse I have ever experienced. For a story driven game, I'd give it a terrible rating on the writing alone. Atrocious. It was high school level stuff and very prejudiced. Using stereotypes and such can be completely acceptable and entertaining when the tone is comedic like in GTA, but Watch Dogs was written in a serious tone but still used the most base stereotypes to the point where the writers came off as very ignorant.

Setting the story aside, the missions were incredibly boring with a police chase between each. The police chases were repetitive and uninspired. My biggest complaint other than the story was the heavy use of a gun all the time on people that had nothing to do with the story other than being a random security guard working a minimum wage job. Shooting random guys on the streets because I need some data made me really hate Aiden. Aiden is supposed to be this incredible hacker, but all I seemed to do is shoot guys and press X when prompted so he can point his smart phone at something for it to blow up. Aiden seemed more like a script kiddy with a lot of hAcK3r apps on his phone rather than a real hacker :)

I could probably write an entire essay on why Watch Dogs was a terrible game, but nah. At least I was able to sell it for $45 on eBay.

People have gotten hung up on the game vs something else thing (not directed at you at all.) It doesn't have any game mechanics, but writing game is faster than experience or interactive story :) I loved Gone Home. Finally a game that completely immersed me in a world for several hours without having to trudge through levels shooting dudes. It was a great palette cleanser between other games and actually made me think about the characters and speculate on the ending. I found myself really connecting to the main character and hear sister even though I never saw them. Incredible writing.

I agree with you on this. Very mixed experience that ended up swinging toward a negative feeling as I played. Even after several hours I had trouble moving the bros around. I had read that the graphics and mood were great, but I couldn't connect with the bros or the story. I even have a little brother myself and we are really close, but still couldn't connect with the game. I think they tried to create a beautiful world and a touching story, but 90% of the game was rotating levers and riding on something.

I agree that the game was really short, easy, and didn't leave me feeling too much at the end. I think it was a good first Act, but to end so abruptly hurt the pacing. I'd completely recommend not playing it until they release the entire thing.

I was done with Brothers after 2 hours. The controls were frustrating to me and the actual gameplay was so simplistic and repetitive that I just couldn't go on.

Gone Home on the other hand, fantastic game. I loved that one.

I "finished" State of Decay. As in I made it to the end of vanilla SoD and now I'm goofing off in the sandbox exploring the map and trying to open up all the buildings.

Story: Well stuff happened and now you have a hidden zombie factory somewhere pumping out thousands of the beasties for you to kill. Thats it. There is a little back story concerning the survivors, but the game is all about surviving and not finding out what happened.

The ending is a serious Wilco Tango Foxtrot and is very much a "continued next episode" deal. I asked at the forums and Breakdown is just a wave survival mode of the vanilla game and Life Line does fill in a lot of the story's blanks but happens at the same time as vanilla SOD, just in another location. So I hope they do release a SoD - 2 soon. I will buy it when they do.

Combat: Its fun, but becomes a bit of a drag after a while. Trying out different weapons is cool and there is a ton of them. Feral Zombies are scary and you'll find yourself doing the fast mouse roll trying to locate them before they jump on you.

Graphics: Not the best out there but with it set to Ultra, its not too bad at all. Here is a link to some screenshots I made, all and all its a good looking game.

Sound: Well done, I really like the title music.

Replay value: Well it depends on the person. I'm still goofing around 3 days after finishing the main mission so I can't tell you how you will play the game.

BIG PLUS! The game does support the modding community and there is a SoD nexus, which I love!

I do plan on tackling the two DLCs in the very near future and will update this thread when I do.

7/10 stars. Well worth your money if you like shooting zombies in the face :D

I really wanted state of decay to have a Mp option. IS there a mod for that?

Nope. Co-op would have been cool, but there are enough of those games already out there.

So, I just started Divinity: Original Sin yesterday. Nine hours later and good lord this game is no joke, seems like it will be a lot of fun. I wouldn't doubt if this is a 100+ hour game.

Been hearing solid things about Original Sin. However, it also sounds like its being patched alot since release.

I want it. And ATM it all that one of my friends is playing.

The more I hear about Original Sin the more I want it. You can play co-op, and the have multiple in game dialogue options depending on how you and partner want to proceed. The discussion will affect the outcome of the Quest and alter your stats accordingly. Sounds pretty impressive

You can also combine abilities to add additional effects similar to how Magika works. For example, the warrior character can throw a barrel of oil at a baddie and soak them. you can then have your ranger shoot a flaming arrow or your mage a fireball to ignite the oil. Apparently there are bunch of these ability combos built into the game.

Steam as a combo deal for anyone interested. Two copies of the game, two copies of the expansion pack, and the original divinity games all for 70 bucks. You save 5 bucks and get the extra content and games also. Anyone up for doing it?

The environment is the deadliest spell in the game. As a wizard if you can bait your opponents into water or oil they get wrecked. I just got done playing local-coop and it is a lot of fun that way as well. As I get more comfortable with the game the more I like it.

Went through playing Recettear again, still haven't "finished" it, but I think I'm done with it for now.

Started playing through Titan Quest again. I'm trying to play through it "stock", without adjusting the drop rates. Not sure if they ever fixed that issue or not.

I put a few hours into it right now and man is it impressive. The game is huge and the interaction with spells and the environment is impressive as heck. It feels like I'm playing an updated version of Balder's Gate but with Magika style turn based battle system. Its so interactive and pretty difficult at times.

Tomb Raider was a blast. Playing as a Cyberdyne Systems T-X errrr Lara Croft you take more abuse as Paul Sheldon in Misery, kill more people than George R.R. Martin and climb more things than Sir Edmund Hillary.

I finished the game with a 96% finished rating, which could have easily been 100% if I had of felt like wandering around in the first two areas looking for little dream-catchers to shoot or picking mushrooms for no reason in the 7th area but I didn't. I finished that up afterwards.

The QTE events are thankfully mostly in the beginning of the game, and other than 2 boss fights nowhere to be found in the later game. The puzzles are neat, nothing too frustrating, but they will require you to think.

It is not a game for the weak of heart though, its one of the most brutal games I've ever played, and not because of the combat. Lara has more gruesome death animations than Dead Space's Issac Clarke and thats saying a lot.

I'm going to give this one a solid 8.5 out of 10, and I do foresee playing it again.
