Version 1.5 is out.

Man, things are getting crazy. Now I want to create a powered rail system through the world. :p
*UPDATE: Darksavior is back up and running. World's seem OK, though I'm kind of pissed. Creative server has either corruption, or some griefers got to it. My skyscraper has had the crap blown out of it. :( Looks like someone started on the top floor with a bunch of TNT and let it eat it's way through the building. :(
*UPDATE2: Doesn't look like DNS changes are propogating properly. I'll look into it and see what I can do.
Still having trouble getting darksavior.net to resolve right after the server move. But using darksavior.org should work fine for those who want back on the server.

I couldn't get in yesterday afternoon or evening, but I got in this morning (using darksavior.net).
p.s. Don't enclose your bed too much or you will suffocate when you awake.
p.s.2. Check the map before trying to return to where you suffocated rather than wandering aimlessly.
p.s.3. Don't let creepers follow you into enclosed areas.
p.s.4. Bad idea to jump from cliff* when you have 3 hearts left.
*if anyone finds some stuff at the bottom of a cliff, it's mine... ;)
If you rebind your respawn point to a bed, does it change the respawn point for everyone on the server or just you?
Just you.
But if you enclose your bed to the point of suffocation when you awake, it tells you your last bed is inaccessible or missing and leaves you at the main server spawn point (which appears to have moved again, now it's on the far side of monroeski's tower).
Anyone else noticing any drastic missing chunks of land/buildings? Or is the concensus that the creative server was griefed beyond repair?
I'm noticing drastic lag. I killed a spider before it registered the first hit on him this morning. When I first logged in, the chunk I was standing on loaded after the one next to me, so I could see my bed....as I fell down into the void (until it finally caught up and put me back where I should be). I've noticed in general 1.5 seems to be slower about loading...sometimes I can't see the ground directly in front of me even until I step into it (on "far" view even).
I haven't been to creative lately, but it was fairly wrecked already last time I was there.
Good to know. I have zips from when I brought the servers back up, but that means they will also have all of the destruction included in them as well.
For what it's worth, I'm fast tracking getting the updated server ready to go. I was debating whether or not I wanted to upgrade, but before I had even finished the debate, I had already ordered the case, cpu, and motherboard. Now I'm waiting on the ram and an ssd. Should have an upgrade soon.
Sounds like you debate like I do. :p
I only have the one backup you sent a long time ago...if you wanna get really clever with it, I think you can use one of those map editing programs to pull out certain parts of the map (like just your skyscraper) and put them into a new map (back into the wrecked one, or maybe we just need a new creative server? does anyone still play creatively? ;)).
Also, speedtest went from 1281ms ping / 2.1 Mbps down back to 26ms ping / 29.0 Mbps down, and unsurprisingly, the lag went away. :D
Edit: I checked the backup I have...I don't remember the exact order everything was built in, but it includes the washington monument (which I thought was towards the end), but not the stadium (it is so weird to walk there and see the untouched land, because I know exactly where it had been). The skyscraper, all the roads, etc are in pristine condition.
OMG RAIN IS AWESOME you guys.

Supposedly minecraft 1.6 will be released tomorrow morning.
Just a heads up on the soon-needed server update and the 1.6_01 update a few hours later. :p
Nether in SMP finally! :D
Should be same as old. :)
Already up to 1.6.4 lol
*Server Updated as of 13:03 20110527 EST.
I played on my own multiplayer server last night. Some major bugs to watch out for (even in 1.6.4):
- All portals currently go to the same place, so you're sort of stuck in one area of the nether for now (aside from your own exploration, but you do have to return to the portal to get back)
- After dropping an item (with Q or due to death) and picking it back up, when you use that item again, it'll break after a single use
I think there are a few other major bugs (and a lot of small ones) due to the 1.6+ update, but last night was dedicated to exploring the nether (first time in there :D), so those were the only (major) ones I ran into.
I was hoping to hear about a 1.6.5+ this morning, but so far, no news at all.
Also, now that there is (or will be) a nether map too, I wonder if the mapping program will be updated to easily generate a second map (and destroy the rest of James' bandwidth).
Server version 1.6.5 is out. Fixes some of the more major bugs in 1.6.4.
