Just wait, you shall soon see what AMD CPUs can do. They will and do hold their own, and I'm quite confident AMD will show you how it's done :)Quote:

He knows AMD can hold it's own. He is just jesting with them :)Quote:

Plus I'll have two procs to run..one 1900+ unlocked and a 2100+...I figure I'll get him...one way or the other ;)
Okay guys, I may not have the latest and greatest setup but you guys are getting 3dmark scores over 10K already? What the heck. I just built my system a month ago and my score is only 4211 nothing overclocked. I may have to start putting a little more money and time into my system so I can start giving you guys a run for your money. My next purchase will be a Geforce 4 4200, then I am going to double my RAM. With that and some overclocking do you think I can get close to 10K scores? Let me know what you think. :D

With a Ti4200 overclocked fairly high, I'd believe you end up somewhere in 9K land. I don't believe you'd break 10K unless you overclocked your Ti4200 as far as it is possible and the same goes for your CPU. My 8500 never made it above 9400, and the Ti4200 is going to be faster than the Ti500/8500 but not by a whole lot. So taking that into effect and also considering your CPU is probably locked, it would be quite hard to hit above 10k. If you unlock your CPU and take the FSB up as high as your board will allow, then yes just maybe you might hit right at or under 10K, but not trying to be mean, I'm doubtful you will when Ti4400 are hitting just under or just above 10K at default speeds. Good Luck :)Quote:

with your setup there, it's your video card that limits your 3dmark score. although that card is cecently fast, it's not directx 8, and moch of the scoring in 3dmark comes from directx 8 features, that's why your score is considerably lower than some of the others here. as yuo can see, with the same proc as you i've pushed my system just over them 9400 hill as well. a video card upgrade would do you wonders in the 3dmark department, but as far as money well spent i'd say it's a complete waste because your system is still quite peppy, if you will...Quote:

Btw... "GTS" stands for "Giga-texel Shader". According to Nvidia, this GPU was the first "Giga-texel Shader", hence the name "Giga-texel Shader". And at 1.6 giga-texels, it was no couch potato (for its day of course) :).
OMG!!!! This post has been going since July last year, if we keep this going until July this year we'll hit a world record for all the internet as the worlds longest running thread on a forum. Or have we already beaten that record?
[COLOR=indigo]io wil make it longer[COLOR=indigo]
We are nowhere close to having the longest thread. We might need 5 times as many posts.Quote:

Geez, you're right, 40'000 is quite a big target, and it's been going since Feb 2001. Still if we keep at it long enough...Quote:

Whatever you do, don't start spamming this thread, or it's going to be closed. If we just keep it on topic, like everytime you get a new vid card or make an upgrade and your score changes, repost it ;)
i got
3298 on 3d mark 2001 SE!
with system below, but with cpu at stock speed as well as the vid card
