However, people have to mine and trade available materials to make it happen. They'll even have to work towards hiding their precious metals from other users who may try to loot them. Nether blocks are pretty sweet, though. The standard ground blocks in there make for some pretty cool flaming fences since they never go out, and lightstone is great for underwater construction, looks pretty cool down there.
As Taggart proposed, though, a trading system of some sort could work pretty well. I'd hope Lightstone would be pretty cheap, though, since it's main use is just to be used like torches.

If anyone happens to notice some huge craters in the area near the spawn where we can't actually place any blocks to replace them, I wouldn't mind having an admin or two instituted temporarily to fill them in. ;)
BTW, monroeski, one of the creepers jumped in while I was leaving your staircase. BOOM! Well, I fixed it as much as I could with the supplies i had on me. Then I looked around and saw that you had had some problems with them as well.
