I hadn't done any mods to my system at all when i got the 9198 score. I think if i had 30mhz+ more fsb, i could eek out another 100-200 pts. Depends on how well my vid card wants to OC. Crappy thing is, I can't even push the core past 250. Mem is decent, but only gets up to about 585-590 before crapping out. Some cards OC way better than this, might be because i'm still on the stock cooling which isn't great.

be sure to let us all know here...i hate not finding out that i got dethroned :D. you may be able to top me...i can only get my ti500 to 263/590...i suppose i could take it to 592, cuz it's stable there, but i get artifacting, so i don't really call it a true overclock...

Yah yah. It took both you guys and about 3different MBs, extra cooling for the vid cards, and only god knows what else to beat a overclocked 1.8a with the horrible RDRAM that everyone says is junk. Only a fool would use a P4 to try and compete with a AMD :( I can only image what that same fool will do with a 2.2 at the end of this month :eek: :eek: :eek: I can see 13000 easy. So if youre gonna put it out of reach. I hope youre shooting for at least 13500. I would imagine a nice overclock on a 2.2 should put me in about that range. What do you think? Hehehe Good luck on the overclock.;)
*edit*By the way I never did use any extra cooling for my vid or CPU all stock equipment. Goes to show that those NWs do PACK A PUNCH that cant be ignored. I think its safe to say that in the overclocking world right now they have the lead right now in the performance department.

He He...you got bested by a proc that was 560Mhz slower with the same exact vid card. You're gonna need all the proc you can get..so go blow some more money on another P4 ...he he ;)

ahh....and the battle rages on.....after i get my tax return back and pay off the rest of my loan, we'll see if i've got enough cash to jump back in this thing :)

My card hit very high without any extra cooling, trust me I can take it off and still show you up... I didn't say anything about your RDRam being jumk or just NW not being good, I just said "bring it on" ;)

i'm not sure if kjy9 and mystif got oem cpus, but an ax-7 plus a good fan is about $35. then think about the fact that the p4's (2.2+) are hundreds of dollars more than the athlon xp's. imo, you can keep your stock cooling, you had better get a good hsf with a $500+ cpu :D

Ill pay less than you did for the new boards,ram, special heatsinks, and time. Come on now. Maybe if I took the time you guys did on the overclocking, unlocking and god knows what else I would beat your score, np. Its not MHZ we're debating here and you should know better than that. Its a 1.8a(which is supposed to be the worst NW you can buy.) Vs a 1900xp which is supposed to faster than a 2.0a according to all the benchmarks(Im only using a 1.8). Come on now bud. You know where Im coming from. Youve been on these forums too long to fall back on things youre saying. Two different chips that get performance in different ways. All Im trying to point out(as always) that there are two sides to every deal. I wont be blowing anymore money than you have. No voltage crap, no special bios, no special cooling. Just a little overclocking the chip to see what I can get out of it. You spent the last few weeks trailing a supposedly crappy chip compared to the xp1900, xp2000, and xp2100. Ive shown otherwise. My next setup may be a TBRED if AMD ever gets their tails in gear. But for now as Ive said before. The NWs are the best things going right now.(And I know it kills you to think that, but right now its true.
You know that if I got a 2.2 I would put up a score that neither of you guys could touch. With this rant all Im trying to say is that the NWs are a lot nicer than some folks are willing to admit. And I think that blindly following a company that doesnt give two rats azzes about ya is to me crazy. Not saying thats you KYJ just think that some folks on this forum do and need to see the truth.

Your talking to a guy who just whipped up one heck of a score on a locked 1800+ and 8KHA+ (both not OCed very much since I can't) That's tough. We know Mhz doesn't mean anything, it's just fun to say "and 5XXMhz less too" it's a competition, we make remarks back and forth, this is why it's so much fun. I don't want to hear "what if I went out and bought this, you could never touch my score..." We what if I went out and payed a bunch of mula on a AMD Chip, Mobo, ram, and the best cooling money could buy, you wouldn't touch mine... what if... Use what you have, or what you will have end of story. I'm buying new stuff, and I will make a score that's very very hard to follow, so you may need that big "what if"...

My score is "Your cpu doesn't support MMX instructions"

I think something's up with 3d mark 2001, since my cpu does support MMX instructions. Has anyone else had this problem?

See what I mean KYJ9.... Its guys like this that give me reason for talking about the NWs. during all this therocksays my 1.8a NEVER gets above 45max load(shows how good a chip it is) And even if did for some reason get hot... would it burn up?NO it would throttle itself down(another great design in the NWs). And as for special cooling you dont need it with these chips. I can barely hear the AVC sunflower running with the side of the case off. :rolleyes: Shhhh.Stop while youre ahead I think youre about to say something even more pointless :rolleyes:

I could go back and find a post where you said you wouldnt need another chip or board right to beat my score right? Im not here to flame my friend. I love the competition also, thats why I was pushing to see what you guys could get out of those setups. I could go to my store tomorrow and get a 2.2 np. I dont care enough to do that right now. I just wish you would have read my whole post and understood the point I was making. Guess not... :(

I caught the part that you speak of, but I felt it didn't apply to me. I don't take sides myself, I've just grown on AMD and I fully admit and understand the parts where Intel is better and you admit where AMD is better, they both have their good points and this is why I can't take sides. Sorry I didn't reply to that specifically, but I wanted to show you that you don't have it as tough as you say you do. If you're truly done, I'm sorry to hear it, I expected a bit more of a fight, but it's your choice. Please read my post, I completely understood what you said and for the most part agreed, I feel differently on just a few things.

I'm not here to flame, I never have been this is a friendly place that has grown on me too much to do that.

Yes you could go back and find it, and I would hold to what I said still if my chip would re-unlock again, but I messed it up badly enough that I must buy a new chip. I'm only buying the motherboard because I will use most of the new features it has, and I'm tired or having a seperate raid card. I'm sorry I'm going back on my word, but I love to overclock and it just won't happen with my 1800+, if it would, I could be benching my heart out now, but I cannot :(

He He...I doubt that...but that's ok...I wasn't trying to flame your rig buddy...just trying to goad you into another round of 3Dmark runs. :D As far as having to tweak my rig...there was literally no time involved or nothing special done for that. The time spent was running a bunch of benches trying to find the sweet spot for the Vid card OC and display settings. I only used what my drivers had for OCing..no coolbits, powerstrip, etc. I guess you'll let this set at AMD having the 3DMark Crown once again at SF, until you get another woodie then?? I'm done...it was far too easy.

So Be it...I'll leave it up to Mystif to put all doubts to rest, cuz I have faith in my brother ;)
