I've got it posting at the moment...but only with the fail-safe defaults. Now its running super-hot, and WCPUID is telling me that its an Athlon MP instead of XP. Something rather weird is going on here......
Joe - there isn't any option in my bios for "speed error hold" or anything else like that.

defroster repair kits usually have some conductive paint that you would normally use to repair the defroster lines that run across a rear window of a car if they had been scraped off...turns out the stuff is conductive enough to connect the bridges, so many ppl use it to unlock their CPUQuote:

would it be possible to make something that wuz really small that would connect the bridges by going "ober" the cpu, so it would rest only on the contacts, and not ever touch the green/brown piece? isn't that basicallly what the mod is?
it migh be a long way of doing essentially doing the same thing as the glue/conductive paint modification, but i am also just testing to see if i understand how the mod works correctly...

dangit dangit dangit dangit...I swear, I just freakin give up. It still won't work, and now I've run out of the defogger repair kit stuff as well. I have no idea what the heck I've done wrong. I'm gonna give it one more try tomorrow, but after that I'm just gonna screw it. :mad: :mad:
Quicky question, when you raised to 133fsb or higher did you also lower the multiplyer in case your temps or the cpu are holding you back from reaching the intended speed? :confused: :)Quote:

having the FSB at 133 shouldn't hold me back at all...as that's the standard setting for the Athlon XP. But now my temps are at 55-59C whenver I boot up, so that's something new that I have to figure out. I'm probably gonna get some thermal grease in a little bit. This is so bloody agrivating.
Remind me what hsf and thermal grease you're using now. 59ºC on boot up is rather highQuote:

using the HSF that comes with the retail AXP, with a Globalwin 4500 RPM fan that I added.
me thinks you need a better hsf combo....thermalright ax-7 or alpha pal8045 and a panaflo should do the trick :)Quote:

planning on purchasing those very soon...but it had been running cooler before yesterday. Which is the extremely odd thing. I just went out and purchased some AS3, which should help me out a bit (I hope). I'm also planning on ordering an AX-7 and a panaflo either today or tomorrow.Quote:
