It is allowed, the only server that aren't allowed are file sharing server that share illegal media. I asked awhile back about the game server and that was fine and dandy with them.Quote:

what are the specs of the computer - think it might be able to run 2 games?
My college only gives you 2GB of upload+download a month!!! or else it's $0.003/MB additional...Bastards!

i dont think that can run 2 games....but we would be gracious for just one

I will not be at my dorm from December 20th through January 15th due to the Christmas break. So I wouldn't be able to look after a server for very long. The second problem is that I may or may not stay at this dorm next semester, so I am unsure what my next internet will be like if I move. These are the reasons I offered my server since that's something I own and don't have to worry about others depending on me.Quote:

well, maybe we could just get one going while your there, it may help to inspire people to either donate or help look for some ISP's

I may have come in on this a little late, but I could get us about a 2-3 mb/s up/down connection. Only problem with that is, it's dynamic IP address. It's at my parents house in Easton PA. They hardly ever use the connection, and I've run a CS server with no problems from there before. Let me know what you think.
Edit: My suggestion for a game... If we can't get a machine to run more then one at once, we definitely need a poll of the most popular games. Personally, I have a lot of experience with CS, but I would be willing to set up whatever.
that would be an awesome connection - you may be able to ask the ISP for a static address - i dont think there would be any major problem in that
if we could pool enough good parts here, then maybe we can run 2 or 3 games - but lets see what happens on the internet connection before we ask people for donations

Couldn't you allow us to setup remote access, and have it start upon bootup incase there is a need for reboot? Whatever games we plan to play just leave the 2 cds in the drives :confused:Quote:

Yes I could do that, but I cannot be responsible if there are any power problems. Winter time usual account for the most power failures and if my dorm loses power I cannot be responsible for not being able to drive back to my dorm just to turn a PC on or flip a surge protector.Quote:
