I can't honestly see this as a substitute for GBAsp.
My Axim X3i has by no means replaced my gameboy. They both have their place.
how good would you rate a jornada 568?...:DQuote:

the thing is, just like amds and intels.... clock speed isnt everything.. an xscale pxa250 400mhz is no faster than a 200mhz strongarm.. howver a pxa255/261/263 is about twice as fast... and the samsung 206mhz cpu is faster than a 300mhz pxa255
the absolute FASTEST and best for gaming pda is the asus a620 which goes for about $300 at places like proportable.com or mwave
Edit: Didn't the asus pda come out a lot earlier than the axim's? That's pretty weird. I really want a PDA too, to be a dork with and takes notes in class with an external keyboard. Some gaming wouldn't hurt, and wifi would be sweet--there's access points all over campus. SD/CF MP3 playing is nice too. What do you think of your current PDA for that sort of thing?Quote:

as for the dpad.... the dpad on the dell is decent but not great....... its small and cramps up my thumb after about an hour.... thats why i was thinking of getting an asus a620... it has the best dpad and it the fastest pda on the market... it even plays playstation emulator at good spped
Hmmmmm... I'd better see if I could overclock mine... I have the SPH-i700
http://www.pocketpccentral.net/samsung_ppcs.htm
it's a cell phone, but the specs seem to be decent also. I'll pickup an SD card and overclock the CPU alittle bit. I would REALLY love to setup an emulator on it :).
the reason i use my x3i over my gameboy now is cause of savestates... emulators allow you to save at any point.. which is very useful.. also, the 3.5" transflective screen on my x3i is WAYYYYY better than the frontlit reflective screen on my gba spQuote:

the strongarm 206mhz cpu is good enough for gameboy and nes games but you need at least a 400mhz xscale with pocketpc 2k3 to play SNES and GBAQuote:

thats exactly what i use mine for.. most of my classes, my professor puts the lecture notes in pdf format online... i can download these using wifi(whole campus is under wifi) while walking to class and view em on my x3i... another cool thing is that at home, i have a wireless network.. while im taking a crap in the bathroom.. i can use my x3i to connect to my main computer via wifi and watch divx movies and stuffQuote:

kpxgq you are truly an inspiration to us all, however you might want to see the Doc if your on the john long enough to make it through the Lord of the Rings. Lol. (I don't even know if that's the special edition or not):eek:Quote:

Anyway's, how do those on screen buttons work on platformers? Are thy playable with the onscreen buttons?
they work decent.. but again, not as good as the asus620 hardware buttons... you dont get the tactile feedback of hardware buttonsQuote:

does windows for pocket pc support game controllers? if so, you could easily hook up one through the usb port right?Quote:

I notice the GBA games have a smaller screen then the SNES and GEN one's. I assume you can't enlarge the GBA game screens?Quote:

That would be a bummer as they needed to make the GB screen just a bit larger. Gonna go more blind then I already am playing that thing.
I was actually quite impressed how well a Strongarm 206Mhz could play Snes games, hardly any problems at all. My main problem with playing games on PDAs are the buttons, never found a PDA that I thought was at all comfortable for playing console games on. It's sad, but it's normally Mahjong (or however you spell it!) that I play on my PDAs, still trying to find a decent UIQ version.
John
you can enlarge it.. but it takes a performance hit... so i leave it disabledQuote:
