Yes I did. But perhaps not the FIRST time. Subsequent driver reinstalls I always had it plugged in.Quote:

Does anyone know of a way to simply test if an installed graphics card is "Dual-Link capable" without seeing the actual proof of a 2560x1600 mode? Knowing if a card is Dual-Link capable or not would greatly help narrow down the problem-solving when people can't get their cards to run native res on the 3007.
MAKE SURE that your cable is plugged in the dual link connector. This is usually the one closest to the Motherboard. You will not get 2560x1600 without it. If you follow my guide a few posts back, it should work as long as you have the right connector.Quote:

It seems that at least some of the 3007's (incl the ones Nvidia has in their possession) are coded slightly differently than others and are not recognized by the drivers such as 82.12 and the ones that do see them, like 81.98/83.10 don't have a complete list of compatible lower resolutions. Hopefully this will be fixed soon and a "fixed" driver released. in the meantime, if you have a true dual link card (remember only ONE of the two connectors will be dual link, except on quadro's, and it's usually the one closest to the motherboard, the procedure I outlined on the previous page should work if done cleanly and completely. If you are not sure whether you card has a dual link, CALL your manufacturers tech support line and GET an answer directly from someone who knows for sure.
That monitor is amazing.....Enjoy

Since I cannot find anything about maximum resolution anywhere on XFX's site, I will just assume that it can handle it (should be able to by all accounts, anyways). That leaves #2...
I went to XFX's site, and when I went to 'compare' the 7800 series, I noticed they have 2 7800 GT's listed, both with IDENTICAL names but DIFFERENT model #'s! The models are (PV-T70G-UDE7) and (PV-T70G-UDF7). Notice the E and F difference. Both cards are described the same, as: XFX GeForce 7800 GT 256MB DDR3 DUAL DVI VIVO PCI-E.
When you do a compare on these two, it pulls up their pictures, which are totally different. The heatsink/fan combo on them is very obvious. When you scroll down through the comparrison items, you come to:
(PV-T70G-UDE7)
Dual DVI Out:
(PV-T70G-UDE7) - (blank)
(PV-T70G-UDF7) - true
DVI Out:
(PV-T70G-UDE7) - Yes (Dual DVI)
(PV-T70G-UDF7) - true
and further down under the 'FEATURES' section it lists
Dual DVI Support:
(PV-T70G-UDE7) - Yes
(PV-T70G-UDF7) - Yes
This leads me to believe that the one of these cards or both may not support 'Dual link DVI', as THAT category does not exist. However, they may have it labeled differently, and may be one of the categories above.
Which card do you have?

Go there and compare GT's to find out which is yours.
Yep. I have noticed that as well. Mine is UDE7. The E version is the "Extreme Edition".Quote:

I read that your card has "Dual DVI" but that is not necessarily the same as "DualLINK DVI". Secondly, if it does support DualLINK, does it support it in SLI mode as well? Please respond asp as my purchase is imminent.
After a week they replied with this:
> The 7800 GT does have one Dual Link DVI port on it. Yes, it does support SLI with the dual link DVI monitor attached.
So when I received this confirmation I went ahead and bought a pair of these. Now that it doesn't work, I reread his reply and noticed he didn't mention "extreme edition" in the reply. So now I'm worried.
Based on forum posts, including your own, it appears that the 7800GT cards from eVga and PNY both support dual-link. Unfortunately I am currently overseas and both these brands are unavailable. The one's that are available (ie. Leadtek, Asus, Gigabyte, Inno3D, and XFX) never mentions on their websites whether the card is Dual Link. They all say "Dual DVI" which might just mean it has 2 physical DVI ports instead. All of them appear to "Copy and Paste" something Nvidia gave them which says "Dual DVI - Able to drive the industry's largest and highest resolution flat-panel displays." which seems to imply "Dual Link" but it appears that's not true. I suspect the ppl who put these sites together are confused by themselves that there is a difference between 2 DVI outputs and Dual Link. Nvidia designed the 7800GT with Dual Link specs however I think some manufacturers are cutting cost by not including it since a very very very small percent of buyers would use it.
I forgot to mention. The reason I'm not wanting to buy the "non-extreme" UDF7 version from XFX is two-folds.
Firstly, XFX currently has huge stocks of "MISLABELED" cards. They have labeled UDE7 cards as UDF7. Following link from the horses mouth:
http://www.xfxforce.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=24
Secondly, I've been hearing a LOT, and I mean a LOT of complaints about XFX's 7800 GT cards crashing (once they switch to competitors' 7800GT the problem is solved) and that ALL their FANS are misdesigned without fan control.
Links about crashing the OS:
http://www.xfxforce.com/forums/threa...2790&tstart=15
http://www.xfxforce.com/forums/threa...1677&tstart=15
There was a HUGE HUGE thread, with like several *hundred* replies about the FAN problem with XFX 7800GT that just got deleted. Basically ALL XFX 7800GT have fans that operate at 100% speed and have no fan control whatsoever. That explains why my cards sounds like a lawnmower. They messed up the design.
The one thing bothering me here: All the 7800 GT's use the exact same nvidia chip. The only differences are minor features (TV out's, Dual DVI PORTS, overclocking, etc.)Quote:

Ok, one thing. Do NOT use the 82.12 drivers! As stated in my original post - they do NOT work at all.Quote:

The fact that you are getting returned nv4*.* errors after cleaning the drivers tells me that something more is going on. Maybe you should try a full driver clean, no install, reboot, install the 81.98 (now that you have the dell monitor drivers installed) forceware, and see what happens?
Have a look at post #10 on this link:Quote:

Tried it. No luck. I'm going to get an Asus 7800GT tomorrow and see if it works. If that doesn't work I'll just get the ATI X1800 XT (has dual link) until I get some friends in the states to mail me a pair of eVga 7800GT or GTX's. Then I can use the ATI for another machine. Can you tell me the EXACT model number of the eVga 7800 GTX 256 you are using? Is it working at full native res while in SLI mode?Quote:
