My Battle.net account was once compromised as part of a Chinese botnet attack designed to get WoW accounts and sell your characters. Account security is a real thing, and it can get compromised pretty easily.
Companies used to care about privacy. It used to be really important. Punch your name into Google and everyone can instantly know everything about you. Pre-Facebook, the idea of using your real name on the internet, let alone a video game, was laughable. Only COMPLETE IDIOTS did that, and then everyone would laugh at them for being so stupid. Today, for some reason, stupidity has become the norm.
There is no reason my full name, which I only use on checking accounts, credit cards, and for taxes should show up in a damn video game. There is no reason I should not have control over it. It's completely unnecessary, it's an invasion of privacy, and frankly, it's just flat out ridiculous.
The question is NOT, "Why does the game displaying your real name bother you so much?" That question has an obvious answer: Because it shouldn't. The real question is, "Why are you actually okay with it?"
