i was thinking, why people think that 3d mark scores dont count or anything like that, but if that was true, why would madonion continue to produce it? 3d mark is a tangible benchmark. just because you cant play it doesnt mean the scores arent of any use. 3d mark tests the capabilities of directX features of a given graphics card, and the speed at which it can perform the given feature. just because you cant interact with the benchmark doesnt mean its useless

my xbox has a GF3(plus, sort of) gpu in it. My PC has a Radeon. IMO leave the nvidia stuff w/ the toys (xbox, macs) that are fun (nothing wrong with them) and put the ATI stuff in real computers.

That's kinda funny, I got my 8500 as a toy. My REAL (non-gaming, nt/linux based) computers have Matrox VCs in 'em. For now. though one may be getting the VIVO real soon.

Well Nvida is definately feeling the fire from ati. I hope both companies end up on the burn ward and don't recover; so hopefully we will get some new companies to cheer for. I find both to be less then honorable but at least this competition thing means cheaper and faster video cards.

Do you have a Radeon 8500 ... do you ... i dont think anyone can mock/reply to something they havent used. Im no tryen to flame ya patssle https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif just to all who reply to it like they own it.

Its great ... and i got mine 2-day shipped for $280 Retail ... if u play wolfenstein its can use truform ... its very fast and yes great picture. From my geforce gts to the radeon i see a big difference. I know the geforce 3 has better the the gts but wow.

The drivers i havent had any problems at all. AA is smooth and frames in games are great. Its a great piece of hardware. I give it a 10/10 and recomend to anyone who needs good speed/features.

Here is my two cents worth.

I play everquest..does the 8500 work with everquest..no....
I play camelot, 8500 has some probs there too, I play anarchy online..no clue if it has probs there..

the point is..I don't care if the 8500 triples the ti500's score... if a voodoo banshee was the only card that could run the games I play, you bet there would be a banshee in my machine.

The games drive the hardware sales, not the other way around. As for it's the game programmer's fault..I dunno..a lot of the other cards tend to make sure big title games support thier cards from the get go...

ATI is definitly on the ball hardware wise, but the rest of thier package needs a LOT of work...

Having a car with the best engine is great, until you can't drive it on the road outside your house....

I dont think GF's have fewer problems than Radeon's. Some of them wont run at all, when using DetXP 21.xx. The point is that although nVidia remains first in sales, it feels ATi's breath very close... Actually, that can be good for gamers as the prices go down

you have to love thr kyro II dont you, against the back drop of seriouse brute force, in the guise of radeon 64Meg DDR's and GF2 ultras, the kyro II walk in with no T and L, and nasty SD-Ram. yet it can still show them up cause it uses efficient tech like tile rendering and HSR.simple yet deadly. shows that there is still room for another alternitive to the Goliath's that are ATI and Nvidia!!
