it seems that while none of my games are producing checkerboards/artifacts I do get an extremely small amount of white pixels in the ati pipedream demo. However one thing that puzzles me is that it comes and goes as the viewing angle changes, from one degree it looks fine and then another and there's white pixels and it only happens in one specific area.

anyways, did you try FSAA to see if those white things went away?
well no point in not using 6xaa 16tap af since my lcd only does 1024x768 anyways :D
but yeah I tried ever setting didn't go away, but as long as the games look fine I'm not too worried. That's another topic though every game I have tested so far looks great except for UT. I'm kinda hoping it's in the driver side since swapping different renderers produces different results. anyhoo now I'll be ready for unreal2 and doom3 :)
I just ordered my Radeon 9500 non pro, its a connet3d one.
Should be here in a few days.
I heard you can use software only now to get them running at 9700 levels, anyone tried this without the soldering ?

instant 9700 for those fortunate to get a good card... my ram is about 13mhz under a 9700pro's speed. the core you can push with no problem.
also, why a connet3d? never heard of them. most people are getting the sapphires because they are the 9700reference design board... i hope you didnt get the non-pro simply because of the mod. there tends to be a somewhat high failure rate converting it. if so, good luck!
I hear good things about the success rate on the softmod. I have the Sapphire sitting on my desk at work. It came while I was out of town :( I probably will not do too much to the clock rates. Unless I get a really good card :)Quote:

well, people seem to only post when things go wrong more often then when they go right... i guess that's why the rage3d boards seemed so full of people with failures...Quote:

for sure the core can hit at least 330, even if you have the crappiest ram, it could probably reach 295...
Took a look at the ram this morning. Still have not used the card yet :) It is infinieon 3.3ns. The memory interface is 256-bit.Quote:

yeah, i got the 3.3ns infineon too. i havent heard of too many people that can OC it past 300. i have mine at 330/297. it works perfect, but if i move the OC slider over 1 ticker, i get artifacting :(Quote:

Sweet! I don't think any overclocking will satisfy me as much as the 8 pipe patch! I may play around with it later. BTW the patch did NOT work when I patched the OS (I did all three files). I had to patch the driver installation to get it to work. Now on to trying DX9.Quote:

you only patch the ati2something.sy_ file, then update your drivers with that file.
it should always work, but you'll simply know if you got a bad card by the artifacts.
The file was in 3 different system directories. I patched all three and my fillrate remained the same. Then I patched the file in the installtion directory. Re-installed the drivers and everything worked. Fillrate doubled, Nature went from 60 to 90, etc. I do see the checkerboard/texture issue with DX9 but nowhere else.Quote:

well, you only had to patch the install directory file, and then reinstall that file ;)
i had some very good directions on this board somewhere... i'm too lazy to search though. anyways, it doesnt matter since you got it to work, but it's too bad about the textures :(

someone earlier mentioned that it had something to do with heirical z. if that's the case, then simply dissabling heirical z may eliviate the problem. i dont know if there's a tweaker out(yet) that's capable of doing this.
