There you go again, you proceed on the assumption that I'd actually bother to run 3DMarks.......I may be overcome by a lazy rut and won't bench for a while. I've been told that this CPU can do 4ghz on air! Hell, that's way too fast for my liking, so I'd be aiming for a more conservative 3.4-3.6ghz.;)Quote:

There is no such thing as too fast. Must have faster and faster CPU... Must OC... Must... Ahhhhhhh
Umm... Yeah, sorry about that. Your comment made my brain go MIA for a second there. :p
You should try just for a bit to get to 4 Ghz. Just to say you did it and post some numbers here. You know we want to see. :)
And I know that you can feel a tinge of regret when you drop $1000 on something like a CPU, but once you have that sucker and get to play with it, you'll be glad you did. :D
watch tomorrow he'll get a water cooling setup lol
OK, just installed my new CPU and gave '06 a run, the CPU's completely at stock speed of 3ghz, and my GPU's @850/901 (1802 effective) -

Man, this CPU's fast! Even at stock speed it beats my Q6600 @3078ghz by a good margin.
Scratch the result above, OC'd my CPU - 334x10 = 3340mhz - as well as my GPU @850/926 (1852 effective) and scored : 19370

Looks like breaking 20k's gonna be a breeze with this sucka.
Edit - '05 result at same speed/setting -

'03 result's in -

3.6 -3.8 should be easy! BTW, good 3dm06 score! What fan you using on the TRUE? I'm still waiting for the next gen vidcard from nVidia before I jump back in the race.Quote:

OK, I won't be benching '06 anytime soon as I've done what I'd set out to do, break 20k!

Man, this CPU's a monster OCer, I've been told by the guy who'd sold me this CPU that he'd done 4ghz with it, but then, he has an X48 mobo and sweet high-end RAM. Will try for 100k in '03 and see where I land in '05.

Grats mikeysg, those are some awesome scores.
I tried to squeeze some more out of my system, but it seems that I can't get more than 3,75 Ghz out of it.
The Gfx cards will not go past 810 Mhz with linked shaders and 1010 Mhz memory speed.
All that tweaking did was give me 45 points more in 06. So sad. I hit my wall it seems. :(
I think I will build a whole new system at the end of the year though, when the new tech is out.
i expect you to send me those GTS's and the mobo and cpu oh and don't forget to send the memory
HAHA, sorry buddy. My GF already called dibs. :)Quote:

I did have a weird crash when I was play Crysis earlier, but it hasn't happen again so I'll keep my fingers crossed. This CPU is an OCing beast, I set everything to auto (voltages) and simply pump up my FSB and multi....simple as that! Right now, I have it at 359x10=3590mhz and it seems to be stable. Runs quite cool at 25C idle, of course I'd have to have my AC on to accomplish this.
