Yea I was pretty sure he was, and its by a large margin. Our o-line was not good to begin with, then was decimated by injury. We had a ton of people go on IR this year.Quote:

A good O-line is just about the most important thing there is to a successful team.
Remember when Jacksonville was a brand new team; their first draft pick as a franchise was to take Tony Boselli at #2 overall. Smart, imo.
Reggie Bush - More likely to lose Heisman.
a little hard to claim extortion if you are on tape making a deal then renigging later.... IMO bush should have his heisman yanked.Quote:
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The existence of taped conversations between Reggie Bush or members of his family and an investor in a failed sports marketing agency could confirm the New Orleans Saints' running back received cash and gifts while playing for Southern California, Yahoo.com reported Wednesday.
A federal investigation into extortion claims by Bush and his family revealed the existence of the taped conversations, according to the Yahoo.com report

edit: I would also like it to be noted that I wish I was so special that when busted for smuggling drugs into an airport, people would come to my side and say that presenting any evidence to my guilt would be a violation of national security

Miami-Dade police denied on Wednesday that Michael Vick received any preferential treatment. Miami-Dade County police have deleted their video of last week's airport incident in an apparent violation of state law. Airport officials won't release their copy of the video either, citing national security concerns.

woa, thats nuts.Quote:

Go watch the movie Blue Chips if you think otherwise, based on a true story :p. Also lets not forget Labron James and his tricked out Hummer he owned while a senior in High School.
I guess my point is I really don't care if Reggie took some money or whatever, because it happens on such a large scale across so many universities, that its never going to stop.
I don't really agree with it, but taking Reggie's Heisman away sure isn't going to change anything.
College Athletes that complain about not getting paid are big ****ing poons. They get freee school which is more than they could make at a job.
I dont follow college, but there are students that complain about not getting paid?Quote:

Yea, free school is huge, plus the chance to make 6 figures right out of school playing a sport, or if you are really good, enough money in 6 - 10 years to be set for the rest of your life.Quote:

I can see it from both sides but hardest would be to figure how much an athlete is worth and which athlete would get paid and how etc. Superstar athletes like Reggie Bush bring in millions easily and that's before bowl games, so maybe there should be extra something they get aside from the free education as an incentive to stay. On the otherhand, fairness comes into question with so many different programs at schools, which would love to get extra incentives. My opinion they should get a little something every quarter/semester depending their athletic and academic performance.Quote:

Collegiate athletes shouldn't get paid. The schools try really hard to have successful sports programs because that brings in extra revenue that they wouldn't get from tuition and tax payers money. Also it gives a platform for the athlete to show off their stuff so they can make the $$$ in the pro's. On a side note, I don't think Bush really cares if they take away his Heisman...he's making plenty of cha-ching already.

Money can get you the things you need to get your personal achievement. It can also motivate you to get your personal achievement. He's already made his money from the fact that he's won the Heisman. Taking the Heisman away from him now is not going to diminish this fact. Let's face it, it is all about money.Quote:

Winning the lottery allows you to pay for the Ph.D. program, thus allowing you to become a chemical engineer. It's hard to believe that you actually think it's ok to break the rules just so this guy can keep his Heisman.Quote:

You're not following the conversation.Quote:

Of course that seems to have changed over the last few years, and some solid playmakers have won it recently. But OMG the 90's...
Actually, I have been following the conversation. You're trying to say that it's all about money, and it's not. If it was all about the money, Leinart would have taken the #1 draft pick status when he could have rather than come back. Bush may try to tell himself that it doesn't matter, and that he knows he won it, or whatever, but if it's taken away he'll always have that big hole on his mantle that used to have a Heisman in it, and his school will always have that huge hole where they used to have a national championship trophy. You think it didn't hurt him to not be allowed to come to USC's bowl game?Quote:

It looks like Troy Smith will be lucky to be taken even in the 2nd round. Chris Weinke was taken in the 4th round. Sure, it looks good if you win it, but the NFL looks for players first, not trophies, unless maybe you count the national championship, which vaulted Vince Young way up the draft board.
sounds to me like monro has been following the conversation a lot closer than some actual participants...sad.
I never said Bush should be allowed to break the rules, she should have the heisman stripped, USC put on sanctions and he should pay a hefty price for it...you stated that it didn't matter if he broke the rules (so it's ok) since he has a bunch of money now and it's all about the money anyways.
you still don't get it, money does not buy personal achievement....money can buy you a 4 year pass to harvard but if you are as dumb as a box of rocks it isn't going to do you any good...money can't buy intelligence, and it can't buy you the talent and skill required to earn a heisman, he can have all the $ in the world but it will never buy him the distinction of being the best football player in the country if he loses the trophy...
