Guys, again: It's not the pt. diff that matters.....if a certain card was ordered and a different version of the EXACT SAME card was received, that's one thing. BUT, if one card was ordered and another was received that's something else. It's principle, pure and simple. While I don't think the egg is fradulent, they should ship was was ordered.
Titus, you shoud put newegg's model/serial #'s down here if u can. Maybe it'd make a difference.....
first of all that was one point of many that I made to illustrate my disappoint in receiving a card I did not order... maybe next time you make one statement which can be taken out of the context of its intention i will post it and try to make you sound stupid as well.Quote:

as to your question i already had the 9800np, and decided to buy another hoping that it was at least as good or better than the card I already had. which it, to my disappoint, was not.
the naming scheme seems to be subtle, the card i wanted was a ATI OEM Sapphire 9800 Non Pro, the card the sent me was Sapphire ATI 9800 OEM. Ordering of the words are what denote the different cards. which kinda of makes sense because the ati oem sapphire is built upon ati's reference design, while the sapphite ati 9800 is obviously built soley upon sapphire's own in-house design.
newegg has be pretty easy to deal with, i really only had to explain the situation, of which they were already well aware. i think it was helped that i also said i would be willing to buy an alternate card. if i were you i would stress allot of what was said earlier in this post, especially by me. you can choose to interject some of the law suit stuff, but i am not sure how far that would have gotten me or you. really i can't stess enough how easy it has always been to deal with the people at newegg. if you get nothing from the first representative i would recommend that you ask to speak to a superior, they are more likely to respond to you, as from my experience that are the ones in the better situation to do so. there is not specific i really had to say so, they worked with me and I have heard from many others that they worked with them as well.Quote:

tituswolf: do you have any suggestions on what to say to newegg? I don't really want a 'refurb' in replacement, I would prefer a refund. Did they give you that option as well?

Just for the record, Newegg fixed everything for me...and did more. Newegg is the best comapany in the world, that's all i'll say :cool:

yeah... i love my current card, heck of allot better than the 4200 i use to have... but unfortunately i have caught the 3dmark bug.. and my current card has infineon ram... so there aint much headroom there, also I am building another computer out of my oft replaced parts lying around here so the BBA is be going in the new/old computer.Quote:

Dang...that's why I buy all my gfx cards from Best BUy on Black Friday...that way even if I get a lower revsion I still only payed half the street cost for it...then again I've never recieved a lesser revision.
I too ordered the Sapphire card from Newegg and received the black PCB version.
I contacted Newegg and they have been outstanding. They offered to take the card back, reimburse me for shipping back to them, and give me some credit toward another card. That is above and beyond what I expected from Newegg. They are a class act.
Seeing how awesome that have been...I don't even know if I will return the card. It performs pretty good, at least I think so.
I did a back to back comparrison to a Built-By-ATI 9800Pro on my system (XP1800, Leadtek NForce2 motherboard, 512MB Crucial memory). The Sapphire at stock speeds scored within 600 points of the BBA 9800Pro...and when I OC'ed the Sapphire to "Pro" speeds...it scored within 100 points without artifacts.
With Newegg's generous offer however, I may take the opportunity and get the real deal 9800Pro. I'll have to see. :)

I wonder, though, if HX profited from Titus' experience. In an overall sense this is good, although someone, as is usually the case (re. Titus) has to pay the initial price.....
