Hold on there larby. Where are you coming from cuz? It's 3:15am on the East Coast... what 13yr old is up at this hour? Anyway.. it's all good if you are the son of a crazy-rich dude.. whateva. LOL I built my first PC when I was 13 too. In fact good old Sharky turned me onto PC building. My first PC was $2500, and yes, like Larby, my dad payed for it. ;)
But the recent upgrades I got for it I semi-earned myself. I got a $4,000 scholarship to a top high school in my state so I am saving my parents some money. Plus the upgrades were only about $600 compared to $5000 that Larby is spending. :p
BTW, I'm 14. ;) I can honestly say that I have learned to do a LOT of research before buying ANYTHING now.
You know what you forgot Larby? A kickass printer. See if your dad will spring for a nice $2000 color laser printer. :)
I guess I could have done thatQuote:

Ok guys,
This is what I think... he's bluffing. Dad didn't ever order anything. He's only a 13 year old moron that doesn't know a processor from his anus. I'm a 31 year old doc, work 120 hrs a week and get paid less than the local garbage man. Yeah it's part of residency, but you know, one day it'll pay off. When I want to upgrade, of course I want the best (within my budget) but at least I know what I'm getting. I'll ask everyone for their oppinion, and do a hell of a lot of research and look for the best price. Damn, my guilty pleasure for the last year was my ram upgrade to some Mushkin lvl II, maybe a new mobo later. I really don't care that this kid claims to have unlimited resources, but what pisses me off is the attitude of spending just for the sake of spending, and not striving to learn or know what the best components really are. That's just stupid. If you want to spend that much money, well more power to you, but dude lose the attitude and grow up. It ain't cool to screw your parents. My advice... spend 2 grand on an awesome system, and use the other 3 grand to spend a month in Europe this summer with your girlfriend -- shoot, I forgot, you probably are not into girls now... havent hit puberty yet. Give it time, with some hard lessons, you might actually grow up to be a man some day.

Take it easy there Dr. T. While I agree with just about everything you said, he is only 13 years old and will eventually 'grow up' and realize how silly it is to 'bluff' like this or how disrespectful it is to treat his parents in this way.
The pancreas is not your friend.
I think he should buy me dual 17" lcd's :D
Or perhaps a folding farm. :p
It's sad to see such wealthy people do such shitty things...kinda like seeing all the rich kids from long island crash their BMWs once a week and send them back to "daddy" for a new one...sigh...
You should cut the 5000k to 2500k and spend the rest on some common sense and research...besides, your shiit will be outdated in a month or two by someone who spent a fraction of the cost on better gear and who knows how to overclock...you may have some of the best equpiment, but you don't know how to use it...
Oh and I'm not bitter about the rich thing, just peeved at your wise assed rich kid view of it...sorry to be harsh..but ehh
THANK YOU! I deliberately read this post from page 1, not from the end to see if anyone else but me calls it - I thought the same around page 2. Here's what I personally think (and I'm not even jealous in this case! I'm realistic and running warm or not, my comp is WAAAY more than enough for me at the moment). He's a 13-year old kid who wants some attention. Daddy is either not rich at all or rich, but NOT buying his kid all this stuff. He wants to sound cool by going out there and configuring the most expensive comp around - the reason I think so is his idiocy with regard to the MoBo. We've all done the config thing - hell, I just did it last week with Alienware, came out to be about 10 grand, hey, it's good to dream if you return to terra firme when you're done. If I'm wrong and he really did buy all this stuff - more power to you, man, are you going to be pissed when in about 3 months someone builds a computer that costs about 2 grand but kicks the everloving sh!t out of his. Worse yet, if I'm wrong, that this country has absolutely gone to sh!t when it comes to teaching kids about money. I'm 21 years old, am THANKFUL like no other that I'm being put through a good 4-year school by the government and school's donors, mostly and when I graduate will have to look for a job that pays 40-50 grand a year for starters when a 13-year old kid can blow daddy's hard earned (and it better be hard earned!) money on a heap of silicon and aluminum that will be high-end for about 3-4 months. I just recently spent 4 grand myself...on a car ('91 BMW 325i for the curious). Oh, but...I worked the whole summer at an auto auction to afford half of it, my folks fronted the rest. Jeez...get a lemonade stand or something, learn how the cash is made in real life.Quote:
