For the PC, I'm getting the REL Quake. With an 8" downfiring driver and only 10"x11.5"x10.75", it puts out serious rocket explosions. :D Comes in cherry or maple veneer, and black or silver. www.rel.net

BTW, I like the IKEA desk too. :cool:

I like the IKEA desk as well soup -- and buying from them is an excellent way to support good and decent in this country (as opposed to buying from the Mal-Wart chain type stores). AFAIK -- IKEA is "still" privately owned and operated - a true american dream, success story (no, i don't know all of the company's history specifics)...but going public (IPO) and trading stock always corrupts a company.

hi;
while this isn't the place to ask about X2 vs Opteron - I feel like being "nice" anyway ;) and atleast point you in the right direction;

Wow, that REL looks so nice and expensive. (why out of my price range):D
Thanks for the compliments on the Jerker Ikea desk. I love how sturdy and modular it it is. Not to mention how stylish and modern it looks. This is my second Jerker desk. (I have the first gen which has a larger top shelf and two pull out shelves on the bottom) In this price range, I think is this the best quality desk you can get. (Office Depot/Staples will cost twice as much and are often lower quality) I can't believe how low some of the prices at Ikea are for the quality that you get. They come with a 10 year warranty. Highly recommended.:)

This desk has gained cult status. (top pics are 1st gen and bottom pics are the 2nd gen) I can't believe how much crap people can store on them.:D

Furniture? I guess you could say that, but is does have to live in the room with the wife or SO, so it better be pretty. ;)
It's not "solid wood" because 1"+ thick MDF is much less resonant than the equivalent thickness of hardwood. So, most speaker mfg's use MDF instead of solid wood for their cabinets. Believe me - if REL saw a sonic improvement with wood cabs over MDF, they'd be using it.
Yes, the Stentor III looks very mild-mannered and buttoned-down with the fancy veneers and glass top, but once you hear what it can do you'll kick yourself for not buying one years ago. It's that good - the definition of "an iron fist in a velvet glove".
Wait a minnit! This is a comp forum. :o
I'm going to get meself a Jerker I think. It's long past time for a new desk set up here anyway!
BTW soup - good install on the rear channel cables. :cool: Straight n' clean just like I like 'em. Couldn't have done it better my damnself. :D
I was using an observation as a base for a "play-on-words" -- I was kinda referring to the lovely females mentioned so far, while also moving away from that topic, and focusing on the subQuote:

I hear that (or should I say I don't "hear" it ...lol) -- yeah MDF is ok for a sub enclosure I guess, since there's hardly a need to have the cabinet disassembled for user service (swap out spkr cones, fried cross-over, etc), but I dislike many of the "composites" ( of this class - i.e; OSB, Particle Board, Melamine, MDF) for their weak holding power of physical fasteners, tendency to break, disintegrate whenever "any" small amount moisture is present. I use MDF for display cases for commercial applications such as clothing stores, etc. It takes paint and laquer really well. Sometimes an archtect will specify it's cousin (paper faced MDF) as an alternative to A/B or B/C plywood (even birch or Oak veneer) for soffit applications, and such - since it is much cheaper.Quote:

Whoa, I never knew I4one and Aztec61 were into audio as well. What type of audio rigs do you guys have?:)
lol.......souper - where've ya been :p
Anyhow - I'm not as much into hi-fi as I once was (mainly b/c of other priorities) - and I doubt I'll be spending 5K anytime soon on one subwoofer ;)
btw - a simple search of posts of moi, using the keyword 'Marshall' (yes, the guitar amplification company :cool: ) yields some further info into my background;

How does that dell screen look compared to a sony xbrite? If you have seen one in a store. :)
Hey I4 - I actually didn't pay the full retail for that sub, I got it new for $4200. Yes, it's somewhat of a ridiculous price just to listen to music, but then I don't have to tell most of the regulars on Sharky about laying down big zoot for electronic wonder toys. ;)
soup, my current "He-Man" audio rig is listed here (minus the sub): Linkage
I plan on picking up a harman/kardon receiver and DVD player soon to keep the video sound separate from the main rig.
