wow Detroit comes roaring back in the third, but comes up a bit short. Much as I hate saying nice things about the Wings, they played hard and well throughout the playoffs and often looked better than Anaheim.
Despite Getzlaf being one of my new favorite players, I'm going to say
Sens in seven. Maybe six.
I wouldn't be so upset if the wings actually showed up in the first and second periods, but they did not play hockey there. They put on a good show in the third, but I wish they would have brought their best in that game, cuz Anaheim was not the best team in that series. A few lucky bounces and some missed calls and they win some games, ugh.
And I'm gonna throw it out there that Anaheim's ice is horrible. The puck just kept bouncing on the Wings, really hurts the skilled players on finesse shots. I can't even remember how many times you hear "and the puck just bounced on him" or "the puck flipped up and started rolling on him". Really frustrating when the Wings had an open shot and the puck won't settle down cuz the ice blows.
Sens in 6, no way Anaheim wins the cup.
Yeah, I'm bitter. :o
I don't think refereeing can be blamed for Detroit losing. It was bad all around but imo Anaheim bore the brunt of the bad calls and non-calls.
Well I was wrong about the wings. I seriously thought they would pull through in the series but they didn't.
I still say that Ott takes the cup to Canada and to be honest I would rather them then Anaheim...
I didn't mean to sound like I'm blaming refs hard-core. Detroit's PP was horrible and Hasek did not play like an elite goalie lately. Not to mention, on the road in general, Datsyuk and Zetterberg just disappear compared to at home. Not to mention their lack of heart and determination the first 2 periods. I still can't get over that.Quote:

I remember the Versus people even saying things once in awhile that there was a missed call.
Just a rising frustration throughout the games.*shrug*
Well it's a matter of perspective I suppose.Quote:

I saw that last year against Edmonton. There was one play in particular where Lidstrom scored the game winning goal... after an obvious interference right in front of the refs occured that could not have possibly been missed. Even the announcers made mention of it.
These types of things happen to every team to some extent... I just think that a team like the Wings have it happen more in their favour than most anyone else.
And of course from the days before the cap, I was sick of them trying to buy a championship every year. That got old REAL quick.
Wow, Anaheim was chosen to win the Stanley cup this year by quite a few people! That is crazy how it looks like its going to be true, that doesnt happen very often in sports.
And btw have i ever mentioned that THE RED WINGS SUCK!
My two cents - Anaheim changed their name from the Mighty Ducks to just the Ducks. I think that sucks, so I hope they lose.
That's what adding names like Pronger and Niedermayer will do for a team, it's makes for an immediate contender. What's really crazy though, is how anyone could write off the Sens. They are freaking stacked. I respect both teams though, so I just want to see a good series.Quote:

And yet from a pure talent perspective... they had a lot more last year with Chara and Hossa on the roster (and actually Hasek).Quote:

Yeah, but the guy who matters most (Capt. Alfy) is having a monster post season, plus the D is better than last year despite Chara's absence. Probably the most balanced team in the league.
Alfredsson is doing well, but actually Spezza and Heatley have more points. That line has been unstoppable for everyone so far... it will be fun to see if Pronger and Niedermyer can stop them. I wonder if Anaheim will pair those two against that line?Quote:

Imagine this same team WITH Chara... and Hossa!
