Do you guys really use all those desktop items? Mine currently has exactly 2: My Computer and Recycle Bin. Granted, I have the hotkeys on my keyboard set up for access to my most used programs (my documents opens word, my pictures opens photoshop elements, media opens musicmatch, mail opens aol, web opens IE, and messneger opens AIM)...but still, who needs THAT many icons up there?

yeah - I am still trying to figure out how to get rid of that recycle bin :) Then I wont have any icons on my desktop :)
I agree, some desktops look way to cluttered. I wouldn't be able to find the icons and why hide the Wallpaper. I try to keep it t a bare minimum. I am sure there is a way to remove all the ICONS, prpobably by hacking the Registry. I think a few aren't to bad.:DQuote:

Powertoys for XP comes with TweakUI for xp which allows you to remove every icon from your desktop. I did just that. It's under the desktop menu.Quote:

On the right it says tweakui, that's what you want.
If you have a side that wants no icons, and a side that wants the thing covered, just right click on the desktop, go to arrange icons by, and view desktop icons, that way it can be either empty orhowever you want by clicking one button.
