Nooooo, you've got it wrong. All nforce2 motherboard that have the A1 stepping northbridge have a problem running dual channel WHEN USING KINGSTON HYPERX PC3X00 modules. Again: The problem is a compatability issue between the A1 stepping NB and Kingston HyperX RAM. However, people (including myself) have had good luck using other brands of RAM. I'm currently running my Buffalo Tech modules at 200MHz Dual Channel DDR in my 8RDA+ which features an A1 stepping NB.

Is it only stable up to 200 fsb or can it go higher? What was the mhz rating on your memory?

To be honest, I'm not yet entierly certain--I seem to be having some power supply (I only have to 300W PSU, although I did order a faster one) or heat (not CPU, but possibly NB/SB/Mosfet) issues, but I believe I'll be able to get 220 MHz to be stable, since I can get run 220MHz FSB without having Prime95 errors. However, 3dMark evenntually drops me to the desktop if I leave it looping, although it seems to happen at almost any fsb speed above stock, so I'm going to play some voltage games and see what happens. Check out my "It's here" thread for further breaking news as it happens ;)

EDIT: Oh yeah, the memory is CL2.5 PC3200 from NewEgg.

I'm not sure if you've mentioned this in your older threads, but when you tried the newest bios, did it help you AT ALL? I'm running into a wall around 190mhz fsb and I was wondering if it would help me.

Also, did you max out Vcore? if not, how high did you go?

No, the newer bios hasn't helped. I just heard back from Epox, and they basically said Corsair is working fine and that's really all they said, so it doesn't look like anything else is going to happen, unless Nvidia or Kingston do something.

Thanks for the update.Man these boaards have some issues,and i have them all.My lite on burner dosn't work at all with N-vidia IDE drivers,Radeon AIW9700 pro has compatibility problems(random corruption at stock speeds,SCSI card and or drives don't work at all on this 8rda+(worked on my other 8rda+ and works on my my 8kha+).http://www.amdforums.com/showthread....&highlight=agp To top it off the o'll Hyper-X snafu.

maybe the mobo makers started using a diffent clock generator chip for the RAM, and that causes problems???

I am only trying to give more "insight" on this situation.

Sorry for bumping this if people wanted it to go away. I just bought HyperX b/c the general hardware forums sucks so now I am stuck with HyperX and 8RDA. HOWEVER, I bought my 8RDA quite a while ago (probably well over six months ago) so is it safe to assume that I don't have the infamous A1 stepping of the northbridge??? How do I check?

Pull off the heatsync on your northbridge and you'll see A3 in the writing on the chip...or A1 if its the new stepping.

UPDATE:

Well not much to add, but there may be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. It appears that the HyperX issues with the Abit NFS-7 2.0 seem to have been resolved somewhat. Peeps at the Abit forums are reporting 210+ FSB in DC, synched, with 2x512mb sticks with the new 1.4 bios for that board.

Now if Epox would just find out what Abit did, we'd be in business *sigh*

Also, Kingston's latest 'tech support' response to the problem is that they are aware of it and their response is to buy the new HyperX 'Kits' that are being sold here. Sounds like a ploy to me to just get us to shell out more money for ram, but I dunno. If anybody gets a 1 Gig kit of PC3500, let is know if you see an improvement or at least are able to hit 200+ FSB synched + DC.

I went ahead and emailed Epox about Abit's fix to see if they are planning on releasing one as well. I'll let everybody know if I hear anything *fingers crossed so hard I'm losing circulation*

I have the 8RGA+, and looks like the buffalo tech pc3700 ram is garbage (or at least I got garbage). I want an update if there is one.

upped to 11x185 (4 windows reboots) vcore. default. vdimm 2.77 6332 and 6222
running 11x180 now (running prime) vcore. default. vdimm 2.77 6332

Whats going on temps are awesome. 37 under load with 13x166

Is this an issue cause im running one stick in slot 3. Also, the 11x180 is running stable for 1hr of prime.

Lastley, how do i find my stepping for the board

Its on the Northbridge, yank off its heatsink and you can read it.

Well guys, I did read through all 10 pages. You're gonna hate me after this, but when I bought my 8RDA+ with C1 stepping I merely bought 2 plain sticks of PC3200 Samsung DDR (2X 256Mb)and I've been running mine rock solid in dual channel mode for two months (see pic below)My little T-bred 2100+ is happy as a clam, no problems whatsoever.

vcore 1.8 and vdimm 2.77 and no go, reboots after i type in password to log in. Then windows gives me these error reports but there prolly standard with system reboots.

This is driving me crazy. I couldnt have hit a wall yet.
