Why thank you sir :)
As far as the initial shots go. It's not a lot like the pepsi challenge is it. That did actually involve more than one product.
As far as the high quality shots go I personally see no difference whatsoever, but as several people have already said, the point you make is a stupid one. Both cards have the same IQ in static images. Cheers for that. I'll definately keep it in mind next time I want to use my PC as a glorified slide projector.
Funny, that was my point too :/
WHO DOES care about static images?
Not me.
Thank you for proving my point again.
BTW: The Pepsi Challenge sometimes had only Pepsi in it. That's why they quit doing it.
baH! I prefer coke anyway. :D
I only drink milk/juice/water :o
Cranberry Juice? Perhaps with a touch of Vodka? mMMm :D
I like Cranberry Grape juice but I don't drink alcohol :p
Precisely the point. A better example I couldn't have come up with - it was useless so they stopped doing it. Worse, it was unethical (in their case, borderline illegal).Quote:

Take a cue from Pepsi.
If that was your point then you selected a fairly unclear way of illustrating it, and possibly need to address some issues you might have communicating your thoughts with clarity.
Or, you both can stop reading my posts ;)
Clearly other people saw my point, so therefore, my post was successful.
Thankfully for me, my sleep at night matters not upon whether or not you think a post I made in the video card forum was ethical/moral/misleading.
It did what I wanted it to do.
Clarify for me again. What did you want it to do.
I'm assuming your aim was to have people who love ATI say oooh that ones the radeon cos it's the best.
If it was then it didn't work because basically everyone said "I can't tell the difference but the bottom one sucks".
One poster went as far as to say he wasn't really sure but maybe the middle was a radeon and the other 2 NV. Hardly a conclusive victory for you then.
Also let's not pretend you didn't imply one was an ATI setup
Then you ask can you tell the difference? How is this not fishing for a flame war.Quote:
Also, there has been some discussion about teh different ways nV and ATi utilize AA.
It's not particularly the way you did it or indeed the point you're trying to make that rubs me up the wrong way.
It's your superiority complex and complete inability to accept that actually your "cunning" plan didn't really work all that well.
I don't know... This is somewhat similar to a placebo. Not sure what it demonstrates exactly (probably just gives a little insight into how people think).
I'm sorry sir if I can't have seperate discussions in the same post.
Sure, I said that statement about ati/nv, but I did so for a reason.
My grandpa is a deer hunter, and I would never eat deer.
One time my grandma made chili and deer steaks, and I ate a lot of the chili, but no steak.
She asked me how it was, and I liked it a lot (she makes good chili).
She told me she thought I'd like deer.
She had used ground deer in the chili, and even though I thought I didn't like deer, I actually did.
My entire point with the post was to post 3 sets of nV screenshots with different settings.
I KNEW people would pick out the best as ATi, just because I have an ATi card.
I probably wouldn't have even had to make that inference.
What I didn't do was say "which one of these three setups is an ATi" card.
That would have been immoral and deceptive.
All I did was put a little bit of ATi/nV in people's heads, then said "can you tell the difference between these three setups."
In effect, yes, a placebo, I think that's a very good comparison.
In medicinal studies they give groups the drug, a placebo (pill with no affects) and other groups nothing.
Sometimes some of the group with the placebo will "get better" just because they think they have medicine.
Similiar, you guys "thought" I used an ATi setup, so a few people guessed an nV screenshot was ATi.
If you DON'T like it, quit reading it.
It would be no different than this:
I take a group of gamers, and split them in three. I ask them if they think they can tell the difference between IQ on ATi/nV cards.
First group goes in and uses 3 computers (one at a time) and one after the other.
One computer is ATi, one is nVidia and on is say Matrox.
The second group has the same scenario, with:
ATi, ATi, ATi
The third group gets:
matrox, kyro, voodoo
Sure, this case is a little extreme, because there really isn't anything that can compete with ATi/nV, but it makes my point clear.
People in the ATi only group would "assume" one of the machines had an nV card just because our discussion prior to the "test" was about IQ between nV and ATi, and therefore I can safely assume some of that group would guess that a setup in that room was nV, when all along, they were all ATi, and vice versa.
Ahhhh. You're still doing it. Two things -
Firstly - Read the first three pages of this thread again. Nobody ever said that the best looking shots were ATi. In fact nobody even said for sure any of them were ATi. Your test failed.
What part of this are you not getting.
Secondly - The test you just described would have worked. Perfectly. The test you did however sucked. Badly. Because it lacked any of the control groups necessary to draw conclusions.
Yeah nobody guessed ATi :/Quote:

I won't be surprised at all if this turns out to be the XT coz AA/AF doesn't seem to work when I was running it with my 9800Pro. It may work for the nV cards coz it's a 'Meant to be played' title IIRC. You should include pics of the rusted pipes as your torch hits it in the fortress, it'd be interesting to see if the diff is all it's made out to be.:)
Edit: first page, he thinks all of them are from an XT AND he is an ATi guy.
LEAVE ME ALONE.
I <3 you mikey.
Hey, why drag me into this? Notice that I'm a nice guy and didn't join in the fray. I was only guessing since you hinted that one was an ATI card you know...:p I'd only guessed that the last set was ATI only coz the gun barrel had more jaggies than the rest.....I know AA/AF didn't work on my 9800Pro.;) Heck, it was a shot in the dark really ..... :o .:DQuote:

My main objection here from when you first gave the answer is the deception. Whether accidental or on purpose (I of course have my opinion), the comparison was deceptive. Thats not arguable - people were decieved, so by definition the comparison was deceptive.
Pepsi cancelled the Pepsi challenge because they realized that decieving their potential customers wasn't a good idea. I don't know if they did it on purpose or just set up a bad test, but the point is, they fixed it. Learn from that: if it was an error, learn from it and move on - if it was on purpose, you really should re-evaluate your position on honesty.
I'm honest.
In that case, it was an error: learn from it and move on.Quote:

He said you're, not they. He meant the cards you own are x x and x. Not the screen shots. It was also written as a question not a statement. He was trying to establish what the three cards were so he could make a more educated decision. He also picked the worst screen as the ATi.
How does this prove your test worked?
I'm not even an ATi fan. It just really bugs me when people refuse to accept they are wrong and continue to talk straight from their arse despite evidence that is clearly and unambiguouslly proving them incorrect.
I'm not going to say I was wrong in this thread, so you might as well deal with it, and move on.
Just as you and russ didn't like it, others did.
Ta Ta now, ttyl.
