well just to vent a little, my micro-atx motherboard from Asrock (supposedly an Asus company) sux, and it won't boot CD and HD together reliably. i'm getting all sorts of problems. so i have to send it back (newegg) and mess around with another one (possibly the $53 MSI newegg has listed there with all the recs that looks really stable), putting a crimp in the XP1600+ i had planned to have folding by this weekend. :mad:
i might just order a new mobo today, and rig this one up mostly driver-less somehow to fold until the new one gets here. it's been a beeyatch b/c when the CD was stalling b/c of the mobo IDE conflict (or whatever is wrong), the laser actually trashed my win2k CD! so #1 i am p!ssed, and #2 i have no w2k to fix the MBR with. i'll have to mess around with it tonight, maybe even temporarily install some quick linux distro like libranet on the empty partition so i can get a folding client going -- that might be the quickest fix. i hate cheap hardware. :p

Doh! That cheapie Asrock mobo is on the way to me too from Newegg for an XP2100+ I have laying around here -- that was to be my secret weapon! :(Quote:

let me know how yours does. i'm going to keep this over the weekend at least and try to get some folding done on it. if i hear that yours is okay i'll figure i just got a bad board and RMA it for a new one. if not, i'll try the MSI.
what kind of power do you have for it, btw?
I've got a real nice PS (400W PCPower&Cooling) for it that I scavenged out a machine a guy gave me when I built him a new rig (SFF).
I'll let you know how it goes -- I expect the board Mon or Tue.

EOC Stats are back up!! although the numbers right now are pretty skewed since it's been so long since their last update, a majority of the top 100 teams are in the red, for the time being so are we....it'll probably normalize in a week or so, but at least they're back
problem: on one of the three computers i have folding, a
2.4b w 512mb ram running xp pro all of a sudden when folding is on and my father uses microsoft word he cant type. i am thinking next time i go there ill just lower cpu usage to like 80% but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

We need more members! I have 7 machines folding. The two in this sig; an AMD 1700XP o/c to 2000; a 1200 Athlon; 2 machines with Pentium IV's 2.4 gigs each and a 1.8gig Pentium IV lappy.

I hope my internet comes back soon, I have 3 WU's waiting to be sent in. Hopefully my mom is keeping my 1800+ and 2000+ folding at home!
Just bumped my AMD from 2800+ speeds to 11.5x200 to try to get a little more out of her. 1.9V we'll see if she's stable. Too bad my "spare" SLK-900 won't fit on that KV7, the Coolermaster Aero will have to do.
