I didn't watch the probowl either. Never have, probably never will.

I hate the pro bowl.

All the skill competitions and such are fairly entertaining, but the actual game just seems slow. You can tell they're just out there to have fun and not really to go balls out and win the game.

I think it should be all skills competition. The game is pointless, and if my team's probowl player(s) got hurt in it I would be pissed.

I love the skills competitions they are always fun to watch. I never tend to watch the pro bowl either but i do watch as much as the skills stuff as I can. Remember in old hockey games on the sega where you could do the skills stuff? That was a LOT of fun its too bad they dont do that anymore for some reason.

Agreed! I think just being named to the pro-bowl should be enough. Kind of like Bob Hopes All American Collegiate Team. It's not worth the risk of getting injured.

OMG that sucks! There was definitely no secret that Marty and Smith did not get along. I didn't think he would be able to fill Breathards shoes, but he's done a really good job. It's too bad. Sucks for the Chargers. Too bad he wasn't fired before the Raiders hired baby huey...er I mean Kiffin :p

woa. Man its late in the game to fire a head coach. Mike Martz better not get that job!

Kind of sucks to be a Charger right now. They've lost their head coach and something like 5 assistants, including both offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs elsewhere.

how can you not watch the pro bowl? it's the last NFL game for 6 months... atleast watch because of that. it's all about hail mary's and patty cake, but so what....it's entertainment, it's like the WWF of football games.

it was actually more of a game when the NFC was fighting to win the game and came up like 3 scores.

It just doesnt interest me. Theres no point to it. And I have admit that my team does not have a lot of "participation" ;)

But regardless of who is on the teams, I just don't like the pro bowl. I begin mourning the end of football season after the afc and nfc champion ship games. Thats my favorite weeked of football all season.

Well Marty kind of screwed himself when he turned down a one year extension last month. That sent a message to his coaches who then had no reason to stay on.

Hard to say he screwed himself when he apparently didn't really like the job anyway. Turned down the extension, and now he has such bad communication problems with the GM that he gets fired? Sounds like he made out pretty well overall, he'll get to hang out with his buddy Bill Cowher for a year and then head back to coaching again.

He's always had bad communication w/ Smith. They've butted heads since day one almost.

But the point is that if he turned down an extension in the first place, it's not like he was really committed to staying there anyway. Having bad communication from day one doesn't really change my point of view that he didn't like the work environment, it supports it.

Anyway, from what I've heard, the straw that broke the camel's back was apparently something like the organization was denying requests for other teams to talk to their coaches for other jobs, but Marty was okaying it, and then they ended up losing all the assistants.

The point was Spanos and smith knew he wouldn't take the extension then went public with that. His staff, with one year left on their contracts, decided to move on now while they had good offers (Cam w/ Miami and Wade w/ Dallas). Everyone was kind of surprised when the brought Marty back this year to begin with. The straw that broke the camels back was Marty trying to hire his brother to be the defensive coordinator. Now Smith has the chance to bring in a coach that he wants and can mold.

I mean, I guess he at least wanted to at least honor his contract, but it's not like he's been dying to keep this job and then did something to get thrown out on his face.
