How do you know he didn't want to be there in the first place? He's never said publicly or privately that he didn't want to be in SD. Are you using your psychic powers again? And he screwed himself for the reasons I mentioned earlier. His staff left as Marty was noncommittal after this season. Now that his two coordinators are gone, two that Smith thought highly of and credited them for more of the chargers success then marty himself, Marty was expendable.
I would expect Martz to be named the next HC of the Chargers... he has the offensive scheme to turn them into something super crazy (not sure he will use LT appropriately though) and coryell was his hero, he played at mesa college (in SD)... he fits very well. The chargers are stupid though, either fire the guy or keep him on - don't fire him after all the good coaching talent has been dried up by other vacancies....wow.
bolts will be lucky to go .500, entire new staff and new system....good luck.

The Chargers have some serious talent under long term contracts. I don't expect them to just fall of the face of the planet because of this. The beauty of their situation is that they have a winning team in place that makes it desirable for big named coaches to want to step in. Tuna anyone? Maybe Cowell? Carrols name's popped up too. Either way Smith said the search would begin today.

Well it looks like the Chargers have the first three potentials lined up for interviews. Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Norv Turner and Seattle Seahawks secondary coach Jim Mora Jr. I'm not too estatic about any of these, but that's what happens when you fire your coach this late in the.
