I think Norv Turner will be a good fit for SD. I was surprised he didn't get the job in Dallas. I figured it would be between him and Rex Ryan.
Lions games a broadcast on FM as well as AM here so thats a plus, usually no high pitched buzzing noise.Quote:

How can you say that if the guy who has the worst record in the NFL over his career as president wins 7 games (which would be his first non double digit loss season) that he will be kept on staff?! At what point do they realize this isn't the guy to do anything but change coaches and players at random so that we are ALWAYS rebuilding.
Another intersting point they brought up on the radio was would you root for your team to go 2-14 if it meant Millen would get fired? I would like to say yes, but I'm a Lions fan. I want them to win every game.
The delay on the TV and radio is usually different when I try something like that, so everything is out of synch and it sounds pretty crappy.Quote:

What he can't do is change his track record or his nature. The bottom line here is that the Chargers don't need a head coach who can develop young players. They need a head coach who can take all their collective talent and guide it to a championship. There were certainly justifiable questions as to whether Schottenheimer would ever be that guy. But if the people in San Diego think they found an upgrade with the hiring of Turner, they need to start preparing for plenty of disappointment.
It could also be said that Aikman was just making him look good all those years ago. It's tru that he's never accomplished much as a head coach.
maybe...chicken - egg
wow, some serious Turner bashing here

I said Manning would restructure...
but it appears that his salary is just going to be converted into a signing bonus so he really takes no cut... I'm still confused as to how a bonus doesn't count toward the cap... so basically a team can hire - say - Manning, sign him to a $100,000 a year contract but pay him an $8 million bonus a year and thereby bypass the salary cap rules altogether?Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Peyton Manning has agreed to restructure his contract with the Indianapolis Colts to save the team nearly $8 million in salary cap space.
The Super Bowl MVP was to receive a $10 million roster bonus during the offseason but by converting the money into a regular signing bonus, the Colts can prorate that amount over the remaining four years of his deal. That saves Indianapolis space under the cap, which is $109 million.
in other news...
Quote:
ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- Jerry Porter is ready for a new start with the Oakland Raiders.
After a difficult 2006 season when he clashed with coach Art Shell and rarely got on the field, Porter announced Wednesday he is changing his uniform number from 84 to 81 in order to put last season behind him and get off on the right foot with new coach Lane Kiffin.
"For me the new number represents a new start, a new beginning and new attitude," he said in a statement released by the team. "I've had multiple meetings with coach Kiffin and I am very excited about the direction of our team and especially our offense. I can't wait to get started."
The signing bonus does count towards the cap, they just prorate it over a few years. It doesn't go away, it's just rearranged. The way I understand it is basically this -Quote:

So, if they just gave him the roster bonus, it would be a massive hit this year, but nothing for the next few. Hard to crawl out of a hole like that, though, so they resigned him and prorated it.
As for my "in other news...," Pac-Man Jones is a total idiot. Actual details are slim at this point, but the story going around is that he went to a strip club in Vegas with a glad bag full of dollar bills and started throwing them on the stage (apparently called "making it rain"). Some stripper accidentally broke the "making it rain" protocol or something, maybe some strippers started arguing, no one is sure exactly, but allegedly Jones went up on stage and grabbed one by the hair and started smashing her head on the stage. Bouncer comes in and restrains him, his girlfriend hits the bouncer on the head with a champagne bottle, Jones bites the bouncer on the ankle and takes some flesh with him, beats up the stripper some more, and eventually the whole club is evacuated. Pac-Man tells the bouncer that he's going to kill him, and what do you know, 20 minutes later a guy Pac-Man was with (allegedly) shoots a couple of the bouncers.
Nothing is proven yet, and they keep saying that Jones is not a suspect, etc., etc., and if half the rumors are true he would have ended up in prison before he ever got out of Vegas. But how many times do you have to "just be in the wrong place at the wrong time" to establish a pattern that it's not just coincidence? They do apparently have video evidence of some sort, I think from a security camera, so the truth should be out there eventually (on youtube, no doubt. :D )
Holy crap. So much for 'what happens in Vegas..'
wow, I remember when he was a rookie he had a lot of trouble with the law.
idiot
And his second year. And his college career...Quote:

I think you're confusing a stripper w/ a ho ;)Quote:
