Computer Maniac ;)
I'm currently building my own rig JUST to play HL2! :D I want to be able to play it 1600 x 1200 with all details, aa, EVERYTHING on max settings. :D So far all i've got is the case, psu, and neon light kit, lol, but I'm ordering most of the guts of the system come Monday when I get my commission check. Might pick up the monitor then too, well just have to see how well I sold this last month, heh.
When it's all said and done...
P4 3.0 w/ 800 FSB & HT
1 gig Corsair DDR400 PC 3200 Ultra Low Latency Ram
WD 120gig Caviar 7,200 RPM HD w/ 8meg cache
WD 36.7gig Raptor 10,000 RPM HD w/ 8meg cache (my game HD :) )
Saphire Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb
Gigabyte GA-8iK1100 i875P mobo
Lite-On CDRW (CoolerMaster Aluminum Faceplace)
Lite-On DVD (CoolerMaster Aluminum Faceplace)
Floppy Drive (Silver)
Logitech Freedom Cordless Joystick (black/silver) (already have it, it rocks!)
Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse (Black & Silver)
Eluminex (sp) Lighted Keyboard (Silver w/ blue lighting)
JBL Creature Speaker System (3-Piece) (Silver)
Vantec Round Cable Kit (blue)
Antec Cyclone Blower Case Fan - PCI slot
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer Sound Card
Aero 7+ CPU heatsink & fan
Enermax Silver 430w PSU
Blue, Sound Activated CCFL
All wrapped up in a CoolerMaster ATC-210B-AX2 case w/ included case window, 80mm intake fan and 80mm blowhole. (Love this case!!)
The whole theme is gunna be silver/blue with a touch of black. I'm even going to go to a little shop down the street and try to get them to swap out the green LED's that shine down underneath the speakers to blue ones.
Also going to pick up a wireless router pretty soon. I want to be able to share a dsl connection with my other comp which I'm giving to my g/f's mother (emachine unit). Probably going to go with a linksys wa54g (sp?) router with compatible PCI cards. Kinda new to wireless stuff, and lan networks in general, but I think I can get it to work without too much trouble.
Not sure if I'm going to get a 19" or a 21" CRT monitor. Deff. want high-grade though, so around $300-$600 depending on size. All together I'm looking at a hair over $3k including a 19" screen. I'll be ordering everything but the CPU, gphx card, speakers and keyboard come Monday pending on the check. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised. :)
That's a sweet rig.I dunno how you guys can afford those things! HL2 should run awesome on that dude. Have fun with it!:DQuote:

Thanks TAC. I think so too :) . Ordering the "guts" as we speak on googlegear.com , Probably pick up the keyboard from crazy pc too, and the speakers tomorrow. Waiting till the next check for the screen. Then its only the proc and the card left. Can't hardly wait :D
Oh, and I sell satellite systems, lol. You can make $$$ if you sell well. By the way, wanna dish? :p
Down with satellite dishes... give me digital cable!! Too many storms here... cuts signal like a hot knife through butter.Quote:

Actually the average national downtime for DISHnetwork is less than 1 hour per YEAR. Even cable companies can't top that. If you had sat. before and the signal cut out alot then you:
A. Live in Alaska with year-round blizzards
B. Had faulty equipment that should have been replaced
or
C. Poor installation / something that blocks the dish or can possibly block it (i.e. tree branches and such that can swing into the path of the dish during storms).
Dish is actually a really good deal, but I won't go further due to the spamming rules, lol.
Anyways, Down with Cable! Evil, blood-sucking, lying Tyrants!!!
Do you know they actually pushed the govener of Ohio (or maybe it was Idaho..) to sign a law that taxes 13-20% of ONLY satellite owners? Calling it a "fair tax" since they have to pay the government for using their cable system and thus tax the customer more to cover it? Incredible. And have you seen all those advertisments bashing dish? Quoting problems that were solved many years ago (such as the "rain fade" problem, and watching different channels on diff. TV's)....
Sorry. Just alittle venting there. Had about 4 people call and cancel installations today because the cable company told them "the truth on how aweful and horrible satellite TV really is." Morons. Cable's "High-definition" is not even close to what our basic signal quiality is. Pathetic....
ok...I'm done...really, I promise. Sorry everyone, lol

I will probably upgrade before Doom 3 comes out, since it's slated for a 2004 release now, if I'm not mistaken.
I'll get my annual video card upgrade from one of the Black Friday sales :).
