about output bitrate... does having it set at 32kbit fixed point make a difference in sound quality when listening to mp3s? most mp3s are cd-rips, and cd audio is only 16kbit. so why would it make a difference?
i dont understand some of you guys taht are using the resampler at those ridiculous rates (190000, etc) and saying that you have better quality sound...
most mp3's are sampled at 44k or 48k how would upsampling it make the sound quality any better? are you guys really audiophiles or are you jsut fooling yourselves into thinking you improved the sound quality by changing soem settings
is that comment directed at me? my question was about output bitrate, not resampling rate. i have my resampling rate set at 48000, because i know there's no point having it higher. can anyone answer my question about output bitrate?Quote:

Also, kernel streaming only works on 2k/XP.
From memory, fb2k can't play midi's at all. I figure the designers just though midis were crap.

Upsampling to 96Khz improves the bass and takes out the harshness out of higher treble (14k to 16K i think) on my system, and i am no audiophile. This is on a JBL htib. :)Quote:

Moving my foobar question to a newthread where itll get more attention and since it isnt about configuring foobar 2000, though there is a question that is relivant for this sticky.
Should this even be a sticky anymore? The most of the information is 2 years old and when i was trying to configure the current foobar (0.9?) most of it didnt seem to match up due to significant changes to the foobar menu.
