Weird.
If the problem was with the cable, then hoverbike replacing his vid card would not have solved the problem.
Tho it could be two totally seperate issues... who knows.
Hey guys,
Just out of curiosity, I read in a review somewhere that there is a utility to change your aspect ratio settings for the 3007WFP. I've installed the 81.98 drivers as well as the Dell 3007WFP CD. Now, I can see the "3007WFP Controls", but I can't find the section where you can adjust the aspect ratios. I hate playing 4:3 games stretched!!! Is that an option in the 82.x drivers? Unfortunately, 82.x doesn't seem to work with my particular display.
Flocons
My monitor just arrived here at work.
*drool*
Preliminary report: Feels like no input lag (at least compared to the 2405FPW)
Still no new NV drivers support. :(
deleted . . . . .
Just got my 3007WFP today. Went thru all the iterations with the blanks screens etc..
Final configuration that works:
DVI connector on 2nd ASUS 7800GTX 512 SLI card on connector nearest motherboard.
Other connector gives the black screens if over 1024x768.
nVidia driver 81.98, other drivers give partial screen draws; tried 82.12/83.40,82.65.
current problem: No SLI support for 1600x1200 resolution games.
OK, just heard from Dell. The problem is not the nVidia drivers they are doing their job. If you have it working on 81.98 drivers but not the newer ones then you have a Single link DVI cable. You need to buy a Dual Data Link cable from Dell or someplace else. The 3007WFP ships with a Single Data Link cable!!!!!
does this monitor double as a tv? does it have hdmi input? does it come with a remote?
Simply not true. Only a few 3007's shipped with the wrong cable. And why would it work on 8198 and ATI drivers then at 2560x1600 if not dual link cable?Quote:

my 3007 came with a full 24 pin one without the gap as in this single link picture.

DVI connector chart:
http://www.datapro.net/images/dvi-config.jpg
There are two variables in every DVI connector, and each represents one characteristic.
The flat pin on one side denotes whether the cable is digital or analog:
A flat pin with four surrounding pins is either DVI-I or DVI-A
A flat pin alone denotes DVI-D
The pinsets vary depending on whether the cable is single-link, dual-link, or analog:
Two separated 9-pin sets (rows of 6) for a single-link cable
A solid 24-pin set (rows of 8) for a dual-link cable
A separated 8-pin and 4-pin set is for DVI-A.
Can you find a part number on your cable and verify that it is a DDL cable? The number of pins showing does not matter, its the number of pins connected that matters. Lots of cables come with connectors with full pins with only a few pins used. I was just quoting the Dell support guy, he told me they ship all 3007WFP's with single link cables. He may have been mistaken. They overnighted a DDL cable to me that should be here shortly. I will hook it up and let the forum know the results when it shows.
oh, if you want to use the monitor as a TV you can get a USB HDTV tuner like the Cat's Eye, comes with remote and everything.

Note: I specifically asked Dell support why it was working at 2560x1600 at all with a single link cable. He said it does work, but starts having issues when the amount of data traffic increases.
You wouldn't get a picture without a DL cable on the 3007. There were a couple 3007's that did go out with a 18 pin connector though. I don't think that any of the single link cables are 24 pin, but some of the 24 pin cables are backwards compatable as per the above linked chart. That said, I suppose it is possible that Dell had a 24pin cable with only dvi single support, but it doesn't seem likely. I wonder if the belkin pureAV DL cable would make any difference in IQ?Quote:

Do not see any obvious IQ difference between the Belkin and the original. The Belkin has some fancy shielding on it and gold plated connectors. Supposed to make a difference, none that I can tell.
Oh, no differerence in the status of the monitor. Still does not work with the higher level nVidia drivers. :p
oh, and nVidia reccomends the 81.98 drivers for users of the 3007WFP.
