heh tried the new dice.....won a game in two turns....I rolled ALLLOT of 6's
I've been eying the titans. No way I can buy one right now. I don't even have all my guys together that I have already purchased. I have a good month or so of painting ahead of me.
I ended up getting the IG battleforce and I am going to make 3 veteran squads (with one Heavy weapon team each), 1 command squad, and one scout sentinel out of the box. I am then going to add some chimeras after I get those done. Should put me up to around 700pts. Then I will probably add a small platoon and Leman Russ to round it out to 1000pts.
I've looked at scratch building a Warhound (my favorite kind.) It doesn't look that hard to do a basic one, but to embellish it the way FW does would be extremely hard.
I still need to finish up my orks I got with the black reach set so I can play my brother while I get my IG ready.
Damn this game is addicting...
Oh and I finished Tales of Heresy. It was pretty good. I especially liked "The Last Church" and "Wolves at the Door." Both of those were my favorite.
yep this game is evil.....very very evil..
Next time we have a bit 10k weekend long game i'll let you know.
I liked Wolves at the Door as the length worked well for it, the Custodes story was interesting as you never hear of them normally although I did think in general the stories seemed to have difficulty providing a decent read within the length they had. I ordered Angels of Darkness at the same time and didn't realise Call of the Lion was a prequel to this book, Angels of Darkness is set in current WH40K but has one of the same characters still as its main one.
I was looking at the Games Workshop page today and they have their big games day in a couple of months with the Golden Demon award which I'm seriously considering going to even though it's miles away. I'd love to see some of the Forgeworld models in the flesh particularly the titans which I just can't imagine in a 'normal' 40K game as they're just so vast even though the Reaver is one of the smaller titans.

Angron is a beast. I liked that one as well. Where is this gamer's day located at?
games day for you tinman is july 25th i had planned on going but other things have come up....
I'd really like to see some of the FW models in the flesh, it would be impressive to see a large sized Apoc game in action. I've not been looking any further though until I can work out if I can get the time off to head down to the gaming day.
Apparently FW are working on a Warlord titan for release next year although I've not seen it confirmed officially. Check out this WH40k scale Knight, I didn't even know they existed as its class seems to have quietly disappeared until Mechanicum:

That scratch built knight is awesome. I painted my first Cadian guy and he came out great. I still need to work on my face painting skills, but everything else looks a lot better than I expected. I will try to get a picture of him up sometime. I'm trying to get settled back in from vacation, but I can't wait to take the brush to more guys.
I ended up deciding to do a Veteran based IG army to start with. 3 veteran squads, 1 Command squad, two sentinals, and some Chimeras for the Melta group and CCS. It will be a few months just painting.
I've no idea why the knights have disappeared as they'd fit in well to Apoc games where the Warlord/Imperators are likely to be MIA (unlike Epic) as they're just too impractical. I have to admit with reading through the Gaunt's ghosts books I quite fancy picking up some IG units although the fact I'm rubbish at painting and won't be playing the tabletop game doesn't make that a great idea...still I've seen a couple of cheap baneblades which are tempting. I do prefer the WW style of the IG tanks, I've never liked the Rhino chassis based vehicles the Space Marines have although the Land Raider is pretty cool.
I've checked the dates for the Games Day here and looks like I can get the time to go down which I'm definitely keen on, it looks like they have a great selection plus a few of the authors are going to be there.
