Go to Cnet and get their Download Manager. It works really well, is free, and can pause your downloads, etc. They always give me a good download speed too.:)Quote:

I finally found a server that was free and fast and installed. Lets hope it works. oh and it already installed dx9 so I will now be curious if this hurt my 3dmarks. If yes, no matter cause im done seriously trying. If I ever start 3dmarking competitvately again, I can always use my other hdd and install windows and 3dmark, nothing else. anyway colossus, get ready to host megs of screenies :D
ok game works but im getting severe texture corruption. Maybe the 40.72s are too old, it says I need 53.03 in the requirements. Oh this could hurt performance but at least the game will look normal. I gave 1600x1200 a quick try, pretty smooth with all details to the max. any clue what the consol command is to show fps?
farcry runs wonderful in 1600x1200 all details to max. I told you guys I have a fast card and cpu! I set my cpu to 220x9.5 for 2.09GHz to ensure absolute stability. I can do 200x11 but higher fsb owns anyday. anyone have a clue how to turn on the fps? I pressed ~ and get a consol but have no clue to the commands. fraps is $30 so screw that. as far as my eyes can tell, 1600x1200 is almost smooth and 1024x768 is smooth as silk
And what is your LOD bias at? How about your "preformance" settings? Install the Omega's with Quality drivers and toss in your overclock and let me know, otherwise what you just said is absolutely useless to me.
Fraps is free, download the demo. The $30 just enables video capture, which you don't need to display FPS or take screenshots ;) I bet you're getting about 15-20FPS if you actually have it on max details.

lodbias to zero, highest performance enabled. no tweaks, very sharp graphics too.

Omegas are no better quality wise to the naked eye then regular Forceware/Catalyst drivers. It's all hype ;) Most of the stuff enabled in Omega drivers have no real visual impact, but they do cost a bit of performance.Quote:

Theres no need to switch drivers T-Bird. Just when you post pics make sure you include a Screenshot of your settings.

No, there isn't. I'm telling you, just use Fraps. It will include the FPS in the screenshot if you want it to. And it even takes the screenshots.Quote:

ok did, getting 60fps in 1600x1200 with low details, 15fps with max details. in 1024x768 max details I get 40fps. Not too bad, my cpus only 2.09GHz at 220fsb now, thats cutting me a few fps short. 340/700 ti4200 clocks. with an a64 at 2.4GHz id gain 50% more fps than what I am at now. I dont quite have the power of a 9800 pro, but its very, very playable in 1600x1200. Im gonna now try high details. Ive been taking screenshots too, but its much sharper in actual game though. used 95% quality jpg. bmps are way too large, several megs each!

Screenshots don't look "much sharper" in a game, BTW....
He's referring to the fact that jpeg's don't look as good as the in-game stuff, which is true. Blue/Red colors lose their saturation when converted to jpeg, and most textures aren't quite as sharp as they are in-game.Quote:

That's true to an extent and he did say that he was using 95% of the quality, BUT...we'll be able to tell enough from that to reasonably determine the quality of gameplay and IQ....;)Quote:

If this email address is valad, you will see 11 screenshots totaling 3.5 megs! many of them in 1024x768x32 all details to max cause I have chosen to run games that mode. 1280x960 drops my fps to about 25. 15fps for 1600x1200. Id rather run 1024x768 with all eye candy. This means NO lodbias tweaking either. full blown maximum eyecandy except for aa/af. not bad, game looks fantanstic and runs that way too.

ill give that demo a try soon. keep in mind my cpu is clocked at only 2.09GHz at 220fsb so I may get a few fps lower than you at that resolution. no aa/af either(makes no difference to me anyway)
