Look people. You guys are all insane for arguing in this ridiculous thread. Maybe I'm a little out of it too for adding to this.
Here's the deal:
The issue with buying a CPU and overclocking is a good example, but lacking in argument. What should be said is that the only difference between overclocking and piracy is that there's a law against piracy and none for overclocking. Yes, Intel or AMD are "losing" money b/c you could have gotten a more expensive higher clocked CPU just like how EA or any other game developer lose money b/c people pirate. Why are there piracy laws and no o/c laws? Probably because it's a bigger problem cause it's so much easier.
Morally, it's the same deal. Some might not think so, but what if the CPU companies get government to pass a law making it illegal to overclock? Tell the truth...would you say it's immoral to overclock?
Some people are just too one-sided on this (this goes for both sides). If you guys want to debate, be more open-minded. Let people do what they please and suffer whatever consequences they are subject to. So people...let's not bring up these topics for the sake of the peace in these forums.
Btw, Freddy_Kruger does not present Canadian laws very well (or at all). Better to keep quiet buddy. :)
