Wow, that 100 dollar set includes over 200 miniatures. You'd be set for life trying to paint all those. Tempting, but they'd just sit around if I bought them :(

Same for me. i would totally jump on this if I had IRL group to play with.

I have never painted before and am purchasing them. I am at $100 now (and switching out the stupid female biker for $25 worth of useful stuff).

I believe that the count is current 211 minis for $100. (assuming they hit $2.24m)

Check this out for a comparison to metal. They are up over $1k in value for the $100 pledge level.

how do you switchout the female biker? I'm considering going with a vampire level contribution.

EDIT: Just saw the FAQ video. The bones reward manager sounds neat. i might also want to switch out some other things like the choronoscope and the marine sets. Hmmm...really on the fence with this. If I got this it would totally be an impulse purchase and something I'm not sure I would even ever use.

I'd say you can't go wrong. Even if you never use them, they would be a great set to pass down to children in the future. I'm on the fence too. I've never painted fantasy style guys.

Only part of it. The first part ships in Semptember of this year. The rest is in early 2013.

I do like the thought of being able to customize the order if I don't want certain pieces. That 7" clockwork dragon looks sweet and I rather have that then some of the other items in the bundle. I might just have that as a desk toy or something.

So tempted...I think this would have me set for pretty much life. Ugg... chances are I will get it.

EDIT: Just noticed that the zombie and wraith items are not much. So yeah, no minis until MArch 2013 :(

So went ahead with a vampire level donation. I figure if I change my mind later today I can just cancel. I really would love to get into the figures aspect so I'll see if I change my mind by later tonight.

I'm on the fence about with the reaper minis... If they shipped some this year, I would totally jump as it would give me a great winter hobby project. Hard to have 100 dollars floating around for 6 months before I see any return on it and the return is in terms of plastic miniatures that I've never seen in person. I noticed some were metal, which are 2x harder to paint than the plastic ones.

Necromancers now. Dammit, I think I'm going to pledge. There is just so damn much to pass up. Also, grab a paint set if you can. Their paints retail for $3.50 each and go for around $2.50 at the bare minimum. So those $18 dollars sets would normally cost $30. I've used their paints before and they are fantastic.

I painted these guys exclusively with Reaper paints, still a WIP but you can see how nicely the paint lays on the figures. It is really hard to get a smooth/even finish with most paints, but these are very easy to work with:

That is an in-depth review of the Bones line.

I am excited to see what happens with the surprise reveals today. I need to really figure out what I want/need for add ons. I am thinking all the paints (never painted before so stocking up for cheap sounds like a good idea) plus one or two things, but we shall see.

I upped my pledge to 133 so I could get that new dragon they introduced a bit ago. He looks awesome. I may ride out to my LHS tomorrow and pick up a few Bones figures to practice on.

Have you purchased brushes yet? If not, don't get them at the LHS. Go to Hobby Lobby, they have tons of brushes and they are much more reasonably priced. I'd get one of those plastic drums with 20+ brushes for around 9.99 to use for base coating or tasks that do not need a fine touch. I'd get a few decent brushes in sizes: 0/5, 0, 1, 2, and 5. Round tip. Get natural bristle if they have any. The synthetic sable brushes are decent too. If you end up really enjoying painting, then order some nice Sable brushes like the Raphael Red Sable.

I have not. I will spend some time tonight and tomorrow researching this. Amazon (or some other online retailer) may be getting my money then and I can use Youtube for lessons in order to prevent hanging out at the store (not a favorite past time of mine).
