Yeah did all the basics. I spent all day with it. It might be the board as well. DIMM 1 on the board is dead and so is the HD activity LED output on the board.
He doesn't really care about those and doesn't want to RMA the board over it. Perhaps there is some other problems on the board that is limiting it. Oh well, it ain't my crap. I did my best with what he gave me.
Sorry to interupt, but I just wanted to remind you that my VC is now a 9800p. You all still have me listed as a 9700p on the 3D Team web page.

Hey C, everything on there is in the correct format. The only thing that is wrong is the type of video card I am using. Everything else is exactly as it should be :D

Yeah baby:D actually it's not as satifying as seeing my 9700p in the group of all those 9800's. Man that was a good video card. When I get my 2.8C I will probaby throw the 9700p in and see how high she will go.
tomarrow i will start benchmarking with my new Asus P4C800.. what i don't get is this.. why do people use the IC7-G when the Asus P4800 in reviews is faster?
AFAIK, the P4C800 overclocks further than the others (much like Intel), which is why it's benchmarks are faster. Also, I think the IC7 has higher voltage ceilings.

I was too tired to benchmark anymore.. I was doing it for the last 2 days :)

Everything I have read says the ASUS is a faster and more stable board at stock levels. The Abit over takes the ASUS when overclocking though. That what made me choose the Abit.Quote:

The P4C800 is 202MHZ FSB at stock speeds, so it has a slight advantage.
The IC7/-G has way more BIOS tweaking features for the overclocker.
i was looking at the anandtech review on 865/875 shout out.. and it looks like the asus board has just as much features... and whats the difference between the p4C800-E and p4C800 ?
The main difference is that the P4C800-E has the ICH5R chipset which runs the SATA through the SB rather then through the PCI Bus...Quote:

While the P4C800 works through the PCI bus...
OMG.. i got the gigabyte 875p mobo (GA-8IK1000).. and its worst then my 865pe.. i can't even boot at 250mhz.. on my 865pe i could boot at 260mhz stock everything .. now i can't get into windows with 250mhz... time to return the mobo and get probably get the P4C800
Perhaps it has stricter memory settings by default? Check to make sure it isn't undervolting (or that the 865pe isn't overvolting). If you want to make a comparison, you've got to make it even. :)Quote:

The Asus boards do undervolt... I would check what memory timings you have since at 250Mhz FSB you WONT be able to use 1:1 :D

my ram can handle 250 sync on my old mothebroard.. and i didn't get the ASUS one colossus.. i got the gigabyte one... and i checked the timings .. its the same as i had them on my old gigabyte board... i even relaxed the timings and kept them on SPD... DAMNIT! i guess i'll get the asus one

Also did you try vdimm of 2.8v?
Also... I think the problem has more to do with PAT then it does with the motherboard :)
Even with PAT running memory at full speed is difficult...
