Once you realize that the computer only takes one of four positions in the first round (DE, T, HB, or QB), and that they always pick in the EXACT order of the mock draft given for the first round, the rest just falls into place. If you need one of those 4 positions, you can identify who you want in the combine, then know the exact spot you need to trade up to/down for to get them. If you don't need one of those 4 positions, you can usually trade your first rounder for a second this year and a first next year. Then, since the best players at all the other positions are still available in the second, you can pick up some great players for cheap contracts, then you can trade THEM for more picks if you're overloaded (Out of 6 CBs on my roster, I have something like 4 in the 90s and 2 in the high 80s).Quote:

That's a pretty good back seven; I'd love to see the Hawk LB's and the Denver secondary on one team. That would be ridiculous. Or the Raven's secondary.
That reminds me, I hope letting Hamlin go (and Herndon no longer starting)will improve our deep coverage. Seattle's crew can tackle and hit, but giving up the big plays is really frustrating. I'm hoping the emergence of Kelly Jennings will balance out the dbacks here vs the pass.

I may be preaching to the choir here but the only reason Roy Williams (Dallas) is a pro bowler is because of name recognition. How many NFC safeties can the average fan even name? He's a hard hitter, but I don't think he's all that good.
Funny thing is, Ken Hamlin is sort of a 'diet' Roy Williams. And now Dallas has him too.
Coverage will be lacking, but there is something to be said for making all the wr's nervous to make catches over the middle.
Neither do most people around here in Dallas, to be honest. General consensus is that he's on the good side of average, but he just has too many glaring weaknesses to be really great. Most of the radio shows want to acquire or draft a safety and then use Roy as more of a safety/LB hybrid, kind of a situational type player.Quote:

What about Landry from LSU?
I think he's a good player, hits hard and has a pretty good head for the game, I just don't think he's all that good of a safety. I think he should put on a little weight and move to LB, personally.Quote:

I knew most are bigger than the 220s and 230s, I just wanted to look up the viability of those lighter guys, see how many of them there are. In my head, I only think of heavy WRs as being players you want in that weight range; if a safety is that heavy, they're too big, and if an LB or a TE is that size, seems undersized a bit, but I'm not basing that on any actual data.Quote:
