Thermo: just so it's clear. this new rig with 17-jillion PR rating and 4+ logical CPUs only uses one motherboard, right? You made it sound like one computer, but your "yes and no" response to the intel question makes me wonder...

Tobad I dont work for that 1000+ Desktop / 40 Server company.. I could rollout SETI or Folding in one shot.. :)
When I worked there in 97-99, I had rolled out 1000+ desktops new to each employee.. Well it was a little more then 1000 :) But I dont recall the exact number... But they all were 450Mhz Pentium II with 128MB of ram, Windows 98se...
Now they have replaced them with 2.4/256MB/Windows 2000/
Imagine... 2400Ghz of folding/SETI... WOW! Most of the time the company employees will leave their desktop on over night.. Not all, but atleast 50% of them...
That would of been cool if the EVP would of allowed a such a thing :D

is everyone from here using the same username for folding as they do on the forum? if not is there a place where they have already shown who is who? im just wonding how much work some of you have put in.

LOL, I have put out several hundred gigs of 2.4 P4's in the last few weeks. But they don't fold. Folding on state property would be a no-no. Everything I fold on belongs to me, some I built and some are trade in's.Quote:

Funnily enough I work for the government too. Have to admit to having the folding client chugging away on a duallie G4 at work though. Never really gets used so I thought I'd put it to good use.Quote:

Well I dont work there anymore.. Havent for a few years... But I do keep in touch with the System Admin.. Who was there when I was..
I wouldnt think folding on state property would be acceptable.. But I am shocked they have 2.4Ghz processors!!!! :)
We have some mandates that we have to put into use, and some of them will need some system power to run properly. 2gig is the target, and with Dell, 2.4 is the sweet spot for price.Quote:

I don't live in the states. True, that G4 was paid for with tax-payers' money. Anyone living in the local community is free to come and use it (it's a dual processor G4 loaded up with Final Cut Pro for video editing/publishing), but as it is it's a resource going to waste. :(Quote:

As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather those 2 processors be put to good use rather than sitting around doing nothing. :)
I'm not going anywhere....I just don't have time to get any ADDITIONAL rigs on the project. The rigs already folding for me will continue to do so.:)Quote:

if it's truly designated as a community resource for anyone to use, i guess that is different. as it's not in the US, who can say what the laws are there -- only you would know that. so if you say it's kosher, i guess we'll have to take your word for it. :)
