total battle.net crash.... Well I guess this is a good time to go to bed...
I guess I feel less bad that I couldn't play yet (the game is en route somewhere from newegg)...
Finally get a chance to play and servers are still n/a :(. I wonder if they're starting to regret this whole no offline mode thing..
If you really *really* want to play, or test other characters when the Americas region is locked for maintenance.Quote:
Not a solution, of course, but with Global Play you can go get some game time in on the EU or Asia servers while waiting. Options->Account.
Reading some of the reviews and rants is really weird to me for this game. So many people raging about how it compares to D2. A lot of the rants seem like they are written by really young kids, but there is no way a really young kid could have played D2 for any period of time.
I sort of get why the WoW forums are the way they are. Makes total sense when you look at MW3 boards and the like. But with D3 it just seems really…weird. I mean, the average age of someone who spent a lot of time with D2 has to be near 30…
I was reading some stuff last night and this dawned on me, and it just felt really weird all of a sudden. The D3 Forums must be made up of mostly men around 30. Go there and read a few posts and tell me that something doesn't feel really weird about that.
Disagree on the age thing. Big name releases like this will always attract the younger crowd plus WoW alone is big enough to pull in plenty of younger people that never had a stake in Diablo 2.
...not that I don't think there are a lot of 30 year olds who should know how to act better, I just don't think that "most" of the posters over there would be that old.
well, i put my foot firmly in my mouth and bought it last night.....
i had no problems logging into battlenet to pay for it, download started at 3 mbit/s, then dropped to 1 k/s, disabling the auto config for my lan solved that and i had the game in no time at 3.9 mbit/s
i started with a fresh outlook and dropped my negative views........2 1/2 hours later i stopped playing.........only because the servers had crashed ha ha, and like others have said, good thing because work comes early these days!
i'm still not in love with the art direction and colors, but i was instantly in diablo land and addicted, cannot wait to play some more tonight!
cheers
