Remember, the Steelers lost to the Patriots by 3 pts. Lost to Jacksonville in OT with Tommy Maddox at QB. 11-5 is hardly bad!Quote:

My take of tonight? Dolphins are a tough team, much better than last year. However, even without Ben (Charlie Batch isn't too bad) the Steelers win.
I vote for Pittsburg. Early in the saeson, I think defense is better then offense. I think the Steeler d is better then the Miami D. I also think that Miami's line is not as good. I think it will be a close game, but the Steelers will pull a win out of their hat ... err helmet.
Bengals will win the superbowl, you heard it here first!!!!!! Assuming carson palmer stays healthy of course.
They would have won it last year if carson palmer was healthy. There was no doubt about that. I think God was visiting a cousin in pittsburgh last year.
Pitt did not smack Indy around. Last time I checked, berger made a playoff saving tackle.
Do you guys still play cornhole at the games in cinci? (boy that sounds bad, lol) I flew out to a game last year and that's what everyone was doing at the tailgate.Quote:

nice officials. dumbsh**s. Pitts D is still awesome though. That catch for the 80 something hard TD should have been out at the 6 yard line, then he challenged it but none of the officials were watching for the challenge   can you say "***?"
Did you see when they put the video of him throwing it next to video of the play? He tossed it out just a second or two before the snap. Maybe they should have been watching more closely, but he had more than enough time to get that flag out, and he waited too long. Heck, he even pump faked it a few times, and then threw it outside of the ref's vision.Quote:

Agreed. He looked confused on whether to actually challenge the play. Then he throws it underhanded 10 yards behind the referee right before the snap. I am amazed how poorly some teams handle the challenges. Can't they assign one coach to watch the game on Tivo, then call down on the field to challenge a play. You didn't need a replay to see he was out of bounds. A slo-mo replay of the original camera angle showed it. My eagles are terrible at it too. :mad:Quote:

Dream on. Pittsburgh physically beat the crap out of Indy the second game. But for a stupid fumble by the Bus, the game would have been reported as a solid beating. Replay the tape. ;)Quote:

And yea he threw the flag like a wuss way too late. Another thing i can't understand, is why the challenge buzzers that the coaches have never actually work. That's absurd that they still don't work. How hard is it to make a remote that contacts the ref who's never more than 100 yards away.
I thought Culpepper was burning Pittsburgh's D early AND on 3rd down, especially Ike Taylor. However, Pittsburgh adjusted AND Dante went to the well too often with the pass. Gotta establish a running game.
I got Heath Miller as my TE, so I was pretty happy that Miami blew the challenge.
If you don't think a running game helps check the stats on running yds and time of possession. Running YDS MIA 38 PITT 143 T.o. P. MIA 24:33 PITT 35:27
Especially when you remember that Pittsburgh was robbed of Polamalu's interception.Quote:

Even if that heath miller touchdown was challenged (Miami would have won it no doubt), they wouldnt stop 4 plays in a row of the steelers running game. I admit this, steelers defense was damn impressive. They might be a top 3 defense when it is all said and done.
They have the strength up front especially if they commit their LBs
They are physical with WR's using their DB's and Safties
I thought they were lean, mean fighting machines until the toughest guy on the field kissed cower. That was as shocking as Janets boobs.
Just got back from vacation, I did watch the game last night though. Miami really gave that one away late, imo but Pitt's defense was really up to speed by the 4th quarter. They were all over Culpepper.
Many will disagree but I think Pitt would be the same team with or without Big Jen. He's certainly not the catalyst that the media makes him out to be.

You say that but Miami did cause a fumble on a previous goalline stand.
And Pitt beat the physical crap out of Indy.
Read what the Indy players said.

The steelers could have slapped them, punched them, bent them over backwards for the first 3 and 9/10 quarters. If Berger did not make that tackle, Indy would be up, thus sending the steelers home.
Ask anyone who saw the game what won it for the steelers. 9.99 out of 10 will say that tackle by Berger.

The thing is, though, that you can't realistically bring the whole game down to one play. Yes, that guy that recovered the fumble was a moron for cutting back to where Roethlisberger could tackle him. However, to present just one example of another game changing play, if the refs hadn't screwed up on Polamalu's interception, even AFTER the review, the game wouldn't have even been in the same situation as it was when Bettis fumbled.Quote:

A couple of other points -
Miami did not cause a fumble on the previous goal line stand. That was all on Batch for just fumbling the snap. This goes straight under my point above; if Batch hadn't fumbled, and Pitt had scored, the play calls for the entire rest of the game would have changed, and maybe Culpepper doesn't have those two interceptions. Thousands of different possible outcomes.Quote:

The deal with Roethlisberger, much like Tom Brady, is that he does not lose games for his team; he plays mostly mistake free, and that is a rare attribute. It isn't that he is a catalyst for the offense, it is that he is a steady presence. I think that is more important than the "game winners," such as Peyton Manning or Vick (who was better under Reeves, who built an offense around him, than he is under the current coach, who is trying to force him into an offense that he isn't suited for).Quote:
