Minecraft, awesome one man game project

I had a ton of cobblestone too, so I made a MASSIVE wall... it contains the castle I'm building (still a lot of work to do on it) and a lot of random land. Looking decent so far.

Looking into the castle, wall off in the distance:

Looks like you've got quite the structure built there - looking good :)

Any of you guys interested in getting a multiplayer survival server going? I don't know if it's still glitchy or not.

The latest list of bugs I saw about it made me assume it was still pretty bad*, but I didn't actually try it. Some fixes are supposed to be coming in the halloween update.

That said, I'd still be willing to try it now if someone gets a server up. :)

I'd be down for multi, don't know if any glitches have been worked out though.

@Taggart - sharing would be cool! Would be fun to explore other people's worlds. Maybe if someone is willing to host, they could rotate our maps... one each day or something. Come explore my path to the center of the earth, muhaha...

(ok so it's cornier than it is intimidating)

mp is still pretty bad. I say wait for the Halloween patch which is supposedly going to contain many mp fixes.

My professor was giving a presentation to the class on friday. When he went to pull up his ppt, I noticed minecraft on his desktop :D He also had to close out a SCII youtube video. To top it off, he had CoD in his Dvd drive. I got a kick out of that.

That sounds incredible!

Creepers are starting to frustrate me too much.

I started trying to build a water trap (which never really worked), but in the process it kept getting blown up by creepers (both while trying to build and while trying to test). Eventually I just built a big wall around it so I could at least complete it in peace...and of course after I reopened it, a creeper exploded right at the wall and the water flooded the hill right outside my base. :p

I don't mind them generally as part of the challenge of the game, but they don't die in the sun and they don't make noise, and they do way more damage than the other foes (because they take out property as well as health) and they have this tendency to get "stuck" right along walls so you can't see them until you land next to them (unlike the other foes which tend to start jumping/shooting at you when you get near them), so at the very least they should have a reduced spawn amount or something. :mad:


Also, we could do a multiplayer "group build" in Classic while we wait for the bugs to be fixed in multiplayer Alpha. This could also include people that haven't bought the game...if anyone is interested?

I had a creeper literally drop on my head yesterday. It startled me so much I nearly fell out of my seat!

I'd say he's in his 40's. He is a nuclear engineering professor. Really cool guy actually, so I'm not surprised he likes good games :D

Definitely thinking about a minecart superhighway! :D

For now I turned all the cobblestone back into clean rock and built a freaking massive castle out of it...

Wow, that's a hell of a lot more impressive than what I've been doing.

I hit bedrock at the bottom of my staircase, and I've been systematically digging out all available "diggable" materials, and replacing it with glass. So in the areas where there is a break through the bedrock to the sky, you can see it. It also gives me an indicator of day/night when I'm down in the pit, digging away. Costing me a ton of time harvesting sand/wood to feed my 5 furnaces though.

I tried powering them with lava, but it got too expensive in iron for buckets. I've now got a farm of trees. My original farm was too close to my lava moat. It kept catching on fire.
