Eh, it was great fun IMO. I never cared for the fiddly numbers game anyway.

I've played the older ones. I would consider myself an experienced strategy player as well. I just didn't find the major distaste for the experience that other people did. I didn't mind that they shifted focus onto the macro more than the micro in this version. I played it right after playing SCII and it was fun to just sit back and relax haha.
I also consider myself an experienced strategy player and I'm a fan of the series and I think Civ 5 is a great game. It is certainly a different game from 4, however, and this is why some Civ fans hate it so fervently.
I like V just fine.
I don't think it invalidates Civ IV like previous entries did to their predecessor, though. It's different enough that the two games can coexist.
I would compare it to tabletop D&D in that way; I played 2nd edition a lot, but when 3rd came along 2nd was pretty much dead to me. 4th edition is so different than 3rd and 2nd it almost feels like a different game though, IMO, so I could see myself playing 3rd and 4th concurrently.
In that same way, once Civ IV came out, I was done with III forever, but even though I like V a lot I could see myself playing IV again.
Civ V is the only one I have played. And my God it's just so slow. I can't take it. <<Runs back to SC2.
Took me a bit, but I actually like Civ 5 better than 4. But to each their own.
What does everyone think of Europa Universalis III Complete for $3.74? Yes I know, it's chump change but I am trying not to nickle and dime myself to death.
A real strategy game for chump change. Play it, and there's no going back to Civ V. ;)
Price isn't an issue. The question is, if you have the time to devote to it. If you haven't played a Paradox game before, the learning curve is on the high side, and the tutorials are pretty weak, but if you have a bit of free time and are interested in the style of game, it blows everything else out of the water in terms of depth and actual strategy.
If you only have a few minutes to devote to it though, it might not be the best purchase.
Weekly deal this week is Anomaly: Warzone Earth. Kama recommends!
I've been looking at red orchestra 2 and nuclear dawn.
I am totally pumped for Red Orchestra 2. It looks amazing.
Brink free weekend and huge Bethesda/Id sales this weekend thanks to QuakeCon.
I am trying to Play brink but the graphics are bogging down on me...so that tells me not good console port. I think it is fun but can see myself playing it on the 360 instead.
Don't get brink. Other than DFF, worst $50 drunk impulse buy I have ever gotten.
