Well, Mike Vick shouldn't make all the money on his contract, aside from not playing up to his potential, he just got busted big time for posession of a strange substance that smelled a lot like marijuana.

I like it; as in thats what I want to happen. Mostly I want the bears to lose.Quote:

In MLB a lot of the time you see guys playing lights out in the last year of their contract, and then when they sign a new one you see a drop off in production.Quote:

If Vick was living up to being the 2nd best paid player in the league (I think, if not, it's something close), then there wouldn't be a problem, but I think with all the stupid stuff he's pulled before, plus his failure to really show any improvement over the 6 years he's been in the league, plus a new coach coming in that prefers drop back passers, he may be out, or at least will no longer be the starter by default.Quote:

That's a good point that I had forgotten about. That's pretty much all on the team not forecasting their needs correctly, unfortunately. Drop a ton of money on one player, forgetting that they have 50 something others that they need to pay and have playing at a productive level.Quote:

arguably the best QB in the game, $1 mill last year and $1 mill this year? there is no way he sees the $11.5 in 2008....they will make him restructure again, thats why it's always BS when the media announces that so and so in the NFL signed a $100 million deal... it means nothing.Quote:
Signed a seven-year, $99.2 million contract on 3/2/2004. The deal included a $34.5 million signing bonus. Manning's per-year average salary will be $14.17 million. Specifically, he'll be due base earnings of, for 2006: $1,000,000, 2007: $1,000,000, 2008: $11,500,000, 2009: $14,000,000, 2010: $15,800,000, 2011: $14,000,000, 2012: $14,000,000. Some money was moved around in the deal during the 2006 offseason, but he's still due a $10 million roster bonus in March 2007.
that 1 mil for those 2 years has to be a typo.Quote:

Vick signed a ten-year, $130 million contract extension with $37 million guaranteed on 12/23/2004. The contract calls for $78 million in total base salaries, with the rest being paid out in a signing bonus and various roster and guarantee bonuses.
Haha!!! Steve Sarkisian took himself out of the Raider's head coach search. The local media had him almost a shoe in for the job, but he pulled out at the last minute it would seem. He's 31 years old and only has 1 year of pro ball coaching experience (as the Raider's QB coach back in 2004). Sad when they can't even get a 31yo to take the job. I don't see next year getting any better for the Raiders unfortunately.
If they tried to cut or trade Peyton Manning, especially if he wins a Super Bowl, they will get ripped so unmercifully their dead ancestors would feel it.Quote:

they won't cut or trade him, they will just tell him he has to restructure his contract to stay with the team and he will, meaning that when it comes time to pay him the 11 mill, they will make him sign a restructured contract that will probably pay him only like 2 mill that year and it starts over again.....some incentives thrown in, you know...win 2 super bowls in 1 year get $50 mill bonus...stuff that will never ever happen.
But what happens if he says he won't restructure? He either stays and gets the money, or they cut him. My point is that they would have to be out of their freaking mind to cut him, so his chance of keeping that contract is looking pretty good.Quote:
