yes according to the books a LT outranks a Sergeant Major (who normally has been in for 25ish years ) when the LT (unless he's prior service) had been in for all of 1-3 years normally...
what people dont understand is that you dont go private, corporal, sergeant , LT ,major etc. they are actually 2 different rank structures and actually dont even fall in the same catagory.
1 has been chosen by the army to become an officer BASED ON KNOWLEGE & EXPERIENCE.(sergeants, ) Non-commisioned officers..
1 has been chosen by congress to become an officer because he has schooling and passed other criteria (but dont necessarily have ANY experiance in the military, much less know what they are doing ) and get highly overpayed for it.... Commisioned officers
That's nice and all, but I doubt we're trying to go that in depth with things... It would only confuse. :p
