Think about it, to any of you who has any military experiance, who would you rather work for, A Sergeant who knows what he's doing or an Lt. who happens to have a piece of paper that says he went to college and is "educated" (note: educated and smart are completely different subjects)

Um, erm, uh, are there ever any promotions in the cooler guild?
Or, can we just bump ourselves up when we feel like it? :D
once in a while they look over the members and see which ones have been helping out a lot and could use a good promotion.Quote:

No you cannot bump yourself up, because that would be out of control. If we feel you deserve a bump up in rank because you have gone out of your way to help others, or have just be a very good member to the Guild we will bump you up; otherwise be patient and don't ask ;)Quote:

sorry dude i wasnt clear on my statement. Personally i would never pick working for a LT over a SGT, (im actually a SGT myself, been in for 5 yrs)
yes according to the books a LT outranks a Sergeant Major (who normally has been in for 25ish years ) when the LT (unless he's prior service) had been in for all of 1-3 years normally...
what people dont understand is that you dont go private, corporal, sergeant , LT ,major etc. they are actually 2 different rank structures and actually dont even fall in the same catagory.
1 has been chosen by the army to become an officer BASED ON KNOWLEGE & EXPERIENCE.(sergeants, ) Non-commisioned officers..
1 has been chosen by congress to become an officer because he has schooling and passed other criteria (but dont necessarily have ANY experiance in the military, much less know what they are doing ) and get highly overpayed for it.... Commisioned officers

Besides, it's just a small group online, not like as if we're challenging the China's Army ranking structure :rolleyes:
IMOP: I did my time in the Army and National Guard. I met quite a few Sgt.'s that didn't know what the hell he/she was doing. Promotion to NCO is based on a points system. If DA (Dept. Of Army) decides it needs 10 more NCO's in a particular MOS (Military Occupation Speciality) it will drop the points scale to get 10. I know I was promotable in my MOS for over a year & had over 700 points but couldn't get promoted because 2 years before they dropped the score to 450 and promoted all the DA's (Dumb Asses). Bottom line is a SGT has no more experience at leading men then a LT. The higher you become as an NCO the more experience you get. E7's and above generally have been there & done that. E5's might know there job but thats about it.Quote:
