Me too. Heh, in a month or so I'll even be adding another rig to Fold for the team. :)
Merry Christmas to all folders.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all Sharky forum members. To the Folders, let's remember that though the competition may cause us to fold more, hopefully the real driving force is the desire to help others. ;)
I came home today to find the house very warm, and the stack crashed. It has been in the high 50’s here, and with the house closed up, the systems have been heating the room into the low 80’s. So I opened some windows and cooled the room off and did a re-design on the stack. Basically, I set it on its side and mounted some fans to blow air into the lower side of the stack. Now the heat can go right out the top, without building up under the boards. The CPU’s are on the top side of the stack, so the heat can go right up and out. I also flashed a new bios that claims to add some stability. Time will tell.
I am amazed at the amount of heat this thing puts out! These 3000’s really get hot when folding.
Congrats to Mark0 on winning the raffle. It’s good to see the winner come from the middle of the pack:D
that's the first i've heard of it -- must've missed the thread. congrats MarkO! :)Quote:

you need a box fan....plop that sucker in front and i bet you're good to goQuote:
Wow, that setup looks really nice and neat.
And congratulations to Mark0.
Well, I was thinking of putting the whole thing into some kind of metal box. It has to be leaking a ton of RF.Quote:

that is cool as h3ll. a metal box with a window vent pumping in cold air (a la saps' "winter mod") would be awesome.Quote:
Congrats MarkO.
And Merry Christmas to all you guys. :D
A file cabnit would work great :)Quote:

Dude, That arrangement is exactly how I pictured it Thermo!!!! Low 80's? Man that is too hot for me... I love the nice cool 70 - 74f :D
Congrats to MarkO!!!!!
Merry Christmas guys, have a good tomorrow.
Also congratty's MarkO, enjoy your avamatar ;)
How the HELL do I get it to run 2 instances. I hear people saying they run 2 at once and it doubles the amount of folding done. I downloaded the console version, for the shortcut do I just change it to the -advmethods for it? Then I open it twice and it should fold two WU's at once?
This guide tells you how to do it.

Just scroll down to 5.Advanced Folding Tweaks.
OK I got the first one up, I want the gromacs correct? I tried starting the second one after doing all their steps and all it does is closes when I start the shortcut.
Congrats MarkO. I'm excited to see your new avatar!:)
You need to either use two console versions in different folders and with different machine IDs (which is what I do), or a GUI and a console version again in different folders with different machine ID number. In addition to -advmethods, also use -local if you run two.Quote:

And don't forget to set your processor affinities. :)Quote:

Is there a way to make that a permanent setting? I have to set them each time I restart right now.Quote:
