It's now working on a new xxx/500 I'll keep an eye on it when it nears the end and make sure I'm online.

Have not tested this but I think you can set it to auto connect. Set IE to auto connect then set folding to use IE settings.

Q: will it upload both #6 and #7 in the queue when #7 is completed? Or will it at some point send #6 while it's working on #7?

Just curious, the program has been running for some 3 hours this morning (while connected to the net) and it still has not changed the status in the queue.

fyi: I am currently at 85/500 of #7. I guess I'll find out sometime tomorow afternoon.

IIRC, it will send both when the second unit is done. Also, the servers are sometimes busy or down, more so when its a holiday.

Same thing happened to me DavidGervais. No problem. When it says done in the log file it will attempt to upload until it is successfully done. I think the only problem would be if your entire queue was full of "done" files you would not be able to work on an active one. I've never had more than one done file in a queue. You should be fine. Add another folder to the team. Currently running the system in my signature at 180x12.5 and Folding@Home seems to be a good stabability test. Only running at 36C so it looks to be going well. :D

I've seen folks referring to how Folding@Home is a good stability test. I agree with that, but its not the best one.

For a real good stability test, I prefer Prime95 with a few custom settings. I've had a system that would fold 24/7 just fine, yet with Prime95 would lock up or return bad information (it checks against known values, FAH doesn't), sometimes within 10 minutes, other times after 3 hours.

Prime95 will usually heat the CPU just a bit more, and when using the 'Torture Test' setting it does calculations against known correct values, letting you know if there were errors. If a system can stand 24 hours of Prime95, its plenty stable.

I had the opposite happen to me. I ram Prime 95 when I first did my OC and ran my Overclock for almost a year playing many new games and CadCam apps. My PC was as stable as can be. Maybe 4 crashes in a year and that with allot of questionable software installed. It was not till I folded did I have to "back off" my OC by about 5% so I could fold 24/7.

Now you did mention "a few custom setting". I had no custom settings. So it may be correct to say "For people who know how to set up Prime95 it is a better test for stability" You noobs stick with Folding :)

Ok, I opened up Prime95 and remembered what I as doing with it. Hopefully this is good info for folks, but likely old news for some.

Open up Prime95, go to 'Advanced' menu and select 'Password'. The password is '9876' (tough, eh?, its also listed in the readme file) Then set the Priority to 10. This will have Prime use CPU cycles before other programs. This will also make your system unusable while testing. Then go over under 'Options' and select 'Torture Test', then select the 'In place large FFTs' testing.

Fire it up and let it go for 24 hours. Why 24 hours? Because some systems will take 3, 7, maybe 10 hours to show a problem. Also, it lets the system go through the entire temperature cycle of its environment (such as the heater turning on, or afternoon sun load on the house).



Now, regarding any continued Folding lockups, there IS a known problem they are trying to track down regarding AMD cpus and SSE code. Looks like some systems will hard lock, for no apparent reason. There's various discussion on that over at Folding-Community

Welcome to Sharky Forums, and it's good to have ya join our folding ranks. btw, where in PA do you live?

Far southeast. I used to fold for the [H]orde and they are going to take the #1 rank again. TBH I have never used Prime95. Then again, I have never overclocked anything in my life.:D I just hope this Barton holds out on me. I can play SW:KOTOR for hours with folding running and my temp has gone no higher than 37C with about a 30-33C idle. And so far it has been stable and I'm still using the lowest voltage I can at 1.656.:)

I just rigged up my dad's AMD Athlon 2200+ to fold for us too. Hopefully he can turn out a lot of Work Units as he never uses the CPU to it's full potential.:)

is the 2200 overclocked at all? or is a stupid major brand pc with a neutered BIOS? :D

He should be putting out one or two WU`s a day, if he is running at stock speeds.

Well after being away, and having to shut down the rigs. Everything is now back up and running at 100%:D

The CPU is not overclocked. It used to be my old system before I got this one for Christmas. He seems to like it enough.;)

I have my rig finaly folding thanks to my new router. Its running @ 2.3ghz with 1.9v running through it. How can I make sure its spitting out WUs ok?

Its alot faster than my 400mhz lappy :)

Haven't had my rig running F@H for the past week (my room has been a little cooler though :p), but I finally got it back up and folding again ;) Bad thing is I'm gonna be swapping out my P4 setup for a 2500+ setup Sunday and the RMA replacement mobo for the 2500+ won't get here til sometime next week (when I'll be out of town), so I won't be back up and folding in full force for another 10 days or so :(.

Hey Mystif, I am coming for you! I have to catch you by Monday tho cause I will be losing about half my CPU's Monday @ 7AM est. After that we can sit and watch Smythe and XJ pass us like we where sitting still.

BTW: nice car, I'm a bit more old school check out my ride in my sig.

well folks, we have made it through the holidays. hopefully there will be more CPUs coming back online again from anyone who was away. and let me be first (?) to congratulate our fearless leader Sapasion for hitting 10k. :D way to go, dude! :cool: looks like i'll be joining the 10k ranks myself in a few days, and i believe i may even have another 1.4Ghz or so added to the mix pretty soon, if i can recruit my sister's pc that she wants me to build for her to fold for sharkys. :D conquer on!

Ok, my latest WU has finished and it did indeed send the previous one at the same time. Now I can't wait to see the points boost in the rankings.

omg! the new WU is x/2500 and it looks like it is only worth 60 points. ***? I do a xxx/500 and get 38 points and this one is 5 times the size and it is only worth 60? At my rate of processing it will take me a good 10 days to complete this latest one.

Oh, well, so much for putting the -advmethods param in my shortcut to help keep the pack smaller. Whomever said this command line parameter would help keep the packs small sure got it wrong this time.

Oh well, I guess it's my lot in life.

Those 2500 step units don't take 5 times as long as 500.

I guess you're talking about 683 or 684, they take about 22 hours to complete on my p4 1.4Ghz
