What do you think the best computer magazine is?
I used to get PCMag for a long time, but the quality has declined greatly to just a jumble of ads and those little cardboard cards. My new favorites are Maximum PC, and CPU. CPU is the best new magazine I have ever read, but how can you go wrong with almost no ads, and editorials by Rob Malda and Alex Ross, and Anand? I also really like the style of Maximum PC as it appeals to the overclocking and modding community.
I subscribe to Maximum PC , which for me anyway seems to be the best out there .:D
In general, PC mags are useless but I like PC Gamer. Only because I get it for free. ;)

Nice to see some hams around here. I'm hardly ever talking on my FT-847, but have it for emergencies and experimenting and learning. I got my tech a few years ago just for fun, but it turns out that a lot of people value a radio licence just a highly as a bunch of computer certs. The knowlege I got from studying for my licence has helped me out so many times I can't even count, from going to the local electronics store and actually knowing what RG8/U is, to diagnosing RFI problems associated with all kind of electronics for friends. I'm working on upgrading in the next year, I know that I can learn the theory for Extra in a relatively short time, but the code really has me stumped. I can send it very fast, but can't recive for my life.
Back to magazines...I heard about CPU once here, and saw it at a local cigar shop that I was passing by. Whats the chance of having a relatively unknown magazine that had its first issue just 6 months ago in stock at a local store? I picked it up and absolutely loved it. It has a few sections of some heavier tech stuff than others, and hardly any ads, not to mention editorials by the people actually running the scene.
My favorites for hardware hardware geekness are MaximumPC and CPU. Neither have the fru fru reviews of printers and all the brand PCs in a row saying which is better for office apps, they're both hardcore hardware magazines; which is why I like them so much. Good Luck :)

I've had a General Class license since the late '70s. I really struggled to get to 13 wpm. I can probably copy 25 or so now. Learning the code just takes doin' it. Yup, I could probably pass the Extra Class theory too but just been too lazy to do it. I don't operate all that much now anyway -- mainly chase DX on CW. My rig is an old Kenwood TS-440S but it still belts out 100w on CW and about 80 on SSB. Maybe I'll catch you on one day -- 73!Quote:

I'm N0IMG. I'll bet there's quite a few hams lurking around these forums, lol. We should probably try to start a forum of our own -- most hams use a PC to assist their operations. Anyway, hope to catch you on one day and 73!Quote:

Why? Alex "Sharky" Ross, the founder of this site, writes columns. Not only him, but Kyle Bennet from hardocp.com and Anand Lai Shampi from anantech.com plus countless others write for them.
I subscribe to PC World and PC Gamer.... I recommand both. PC Gamer review hardware too...

Their site is http://www.cpumag.com it is not much, but what would you expect for a six-month-old magazine?
Maximum PC is always a fun read.
