OK. I'm in the market for a new FPS. I just finished Max Payne in ONE sitting and I need something a little longer. I'm a big fan of intelligent, sneaking, sniping FPS's like Half Life, NOLF, and Deus Ex. I DO NOT like mindless no-tactics massacre fests such as Quake and Unreal Tournament. Does anyone have any ideas for a good game out there?
Thief: The Dark Project or Thief 2: The Metal Age. Lots of sneaking but more emphasis on stealth than all-out weapons tactics. I still keep going back to these after a few months of tiresome fragfests.
Not your typical FPS but than again that's what makes it so damn fun. :)

Bargain bins, ebay... hell I picked up Deus Ex for $10 off ebay about a year ago. I've seen some amazingly old titles on there.Quote:

Thief is totally immersive; I'm never been so drawn into the environment of a game before. A little dated perhaps but still in my Top 5 to this day.
Jedi Knight II - Great, nice graphics, the sounds has the standard from the ones in the movies, and some sounds are taken direcly from the movies, nice blend of action/puzzle (puzzles are logical IMO), the implenation of the ligthsaber is very well done.
Medal of Honor - Nice graphics, top rate sound effects, missions takes places in varied settings, you can make the game Quake style playing it on easier settings and more lik Ghost Recon on the higher settings, at least IMO.
Ghost Recon + Desert Siege - One of the best tactical shooters ever, nice graphics, good sound effects from weapons, many and varied missions. Haven't played that much, but MP is as good as ever when it comes to the R6 serie.
You can find Undying for $10 in some bargain bins, great underated FPS.
I would recommend JK2, but I haven't got it yet. :\
MOHAA and Ghost Recon are also great tactical shooters.

jkII, you don't get much of sneaking , but I would say that mohaa is the one for you, try it and you will love it.
when is Hitman II coming out?
I really enjoyed JK2 myself, I also had a lot of fun with MOHAA. Storming Omaha was one thing that made you respect even more the men who charged beach in WW2.
I'd reccomend either MOHAA or JK2. Though JK2 isn't necessarily a "sneaking" FPS though...lots of action and killing, but with a storyline.

I would definitely try Undying. I am a big fan of the thinker shooter types myself and next to Deus Ex and NOLF, my next favorites were Undying and JK2. The puzzles in JK2 get a little old, but they at least keep it from being a simple shooter. Definitely look into Undying though. No sneaking, but the story and fighting style is a lot more thought provoking than most shooters.
