ATI claims they have the most stable drivers available!

Notice how they say "Industry’s most stable 3D acceleration software"? I would say that ATI is working overtime to make that statement hold true in real life.

So far, they've been more than true to their word. When there is a problem, a patch comes out in less than 24 hours. It's great when a big company can take their time and listen to our video card problems, and tailor their hardware/software to work with our systems. All I know is that I'm happy with how things have gone so far, and I can't wait for the release of the 9700.:D

nVidia fans can no longer use the excuse "Ati sucks at drivers." Recent drivers are very good, very fast, and very good looking.

I used to think ATi's drivers are improving until the Catalyst drivers messed up my anisotropic filtering either that or Omega doesn't know anything about making decent ATi drivers.

There also wouldn't be nearly as much action on these fourms. I think its kinda funny when people argue about pointless things. Same as with AMD and intel

I think that we all agree on that, but it's also a fact that they make very different products (architecture and feature-wise).

This problem also exists for AMD/Intel products. In the end, due to their major differences, you get ATI/nVidia/Intel/AMD flame wars. Hmm, if you can't beat them join them. LEARN TO BE A FLAMEWARRIOR!

I cant believe I owned a Radeon when they sucked the worst.

Yeah, no kidding. With the earlier revisions of the Windows XP drivers for a Radeon I got a score of 1200. With the Catalyst I'm at 1840 3DMarks.

Quake3 framerate also jumped by a good 10 or so frames as well :).

Omega drivers for ATI suck. I went from great gameplay with the ATI drivers to absolutely crap with the Omegas.

I agree steer clear of Omegas drivers. I use the 9050 for 98 SE and they are very good and stable for BETAs. The Forest Level in RTCW used to start at 10 fps with my GTS at 1024 and now starts at 70 fps with my 8500 at 1280. Nothing wrong with that. Its too bad ATI released this card with bad drivers cuz the hardware quality is superb IMHO. However I waited and watched and read and saw it get better and better until I had to have one. Patience was worthwhile for me.

I remember when I bought it putting lots of time aside for the hair pulling that would surely follow based on all the stories I had heard. I thought I must be crazy to even try to get this card to work on my older VIA. But I uninstalled the Geforce 2 and flushed the Registry popped it in and poof! Worked like a dream!! I left my aggressive RAM timings and AGP 4x and no problems. Right now I have Sharky's on one monitor and Winamp's 3d Milkdrop Plugin Full screen on the other.
