In games, why more than 256mb memory?
I've played many, many games and demos and honestly can't see why I would need more than 256mb memory even in windows XP! With all background programs shut down and and the games screen res set at 1024x768 and max detail, I honestly cannot complain about my hard drive paging due to lack of precious system memory.
There is one exception however! The game Medal of Honor: AA. There was some stuttering due to lack of system memory and hard drive paging.
Keep in mind I speak only of games and not multi-tasking many programs or running photoshop. I came upon some extra cash and am wondering where I should put the money. another fan in my already stable overclocked system or another 128mb memory for a total of 384mb? As of right NOW I don't think the memory will help all that much for this gamer. I know my mind will change with future games. But I speak of right now.
What are your thought folks?
