Some driver revisions don't work well in games, particularly new ones.
What driver revision are you using?
Uhh... :o how can i figure this out? i bought this computer from a guy who built it as his gaming machine and decided to get rid of it..(the guy builds computers for lots of people) i havent done any driver changes or anything since ive gotten it... where can i find this info? sorry to be a pain...
right click on desktop. select properties. got to settings/advanced/GF2MX and give us the last four numbers of the driver version.
2183
thanks for the help...keep it coming :)
Version 21.83 was the official Nvidia driver about 1 whole year ago, I recommend that you try the newest version, 41.09 (From www.nvidia.com ) or try version 40.72 from www.guru3d.com
Tell us if that solves anything :). Make sure you also have DirectX 8.1 installed if you already haven't.
installed direct x 9.0 (the latest one) and the NVidia official driver...didnt help me...i went into the game and it came back to the desktop in a lower resolution... *sigh* i just want it to work... any other ideaS?
What game is this? It might be a game-only issue, perhaps something to do with your hardware.
Go to the system bios and check the AGP aperture is at least 32MB. 64MB should be a good setting.
Using 2x AGP instead of 4x might help.
In PCI configuration assigning IRQ to VGA might also help.
Run DXdiag and make sure all the tests run. If they dont you might have the DX bug. disabling that harware function might actually enable it.
If using windows 98 you might need to completly remove drivers and reinstall. reboot to safe mode, uninstall from add/remove progs, run detenator destoyer, reboot and install new drivers.
If you had a different card before the MX200 you might need to completly remove any driver files and reg entries left behind. for this it might be easier to reinstall windows.
Maybe the card is overheating. MX200's have very small coolers. If you got a hot one that cooler wont cut it.
Could be voltage drop.
Remove the card and slide it in and out of its slot a few times to clean up contacts. Check the 3.3v rail is within tolerance and stable.
BTW whats you Vcore set at? should be 1.75v
Well, just checked the BIOS settings...everything seems to be the way you guys said to have it set..it said the computer temp was at 86 degrees...do you think thats too much? do i need to replace the stock cooler with a new one? Im beginning to think i need a new graphics card... (btw, im trying to play Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed and Comand and Conquer: Renegade *yes i know its a bad game* ) Id also like to know if im going to have these problems if i buy Grand theft auto vice city :(
So it ran the tests in DXdiag ok?
Which motherboard? got latest chipset drivers?
86 degrees...? What are the units on that 86 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit? If it's fahrenheit you are safe, but if it's Celsius then that is the reason why games are playing badly. I'm pretty sure you are referring to Fahrenheit, but you never know..Quote:

Have you checked the game's support forums? Does every game crash or is it only those two?
well its 86 degrees farenhiet...and its just primarily on those two games..(theyre the latest game i have right now) i havent run the direct x thing yet..where do i go to do that? the motherboard is a MSI...and i imagine that it just has the original drivers...

click on start ---> run ---> type, dxdiag
Goto run and type in dxdiag and do some diagnostics on there.
What motherboard are you using? I suggest getting the latest chipset drivers and maybe even check if any new BIOS's have fixes.
One of my friends just solved a sound poppping poblem interferring with video performance with a BIOS flash so that may be a possibile solution as well, but I'd do the DirectX tests first.
